40 PC Westerbeke 7.6 - sound enclosure removal ?

This winter I need to replace the "foam" inside the sound enclosure. It has "broken down" and fallen into the moving parts of the unit. However, for the live of me, I can't figure out how to remove the top panel, where most of the work needs done.

Below are a few pictures...any ideas ?

I'm pretty sure there are more of the rubber straps/hooks from the top panel to the panel that is in the back. The top of mine comes out with no problems but I can't get the left side off.

Well there are and I think I can get the snaps off. The problem is the clearance to the top of the other stuff formula has in there...

So like your side.. I see no way of getting the top off... But there has to be a way

Wow, that is tight. Looks like some disassembly will be required.

Are there pins or slides that the to hooks to? Maybe just remove them so it will slide out?

Not sure which enclosure westerbeke uses but the last one I worked on was a Kohler and inside the top cover was two 1/4 turn latches that unlocked the top of the front part. The rear was held with horizontal pins. Maybe yours is held on the same way. How do you access the radiator cap?

I disassemble the latch from another side and I'll show what's going on there.... But now I can't find it. As soon as I do I'll post it.

Ok, so here are a few pictures of the latch that I removed from a panel that I could get at. As you can see, no matter what I do, the latch still can't clear the top of the Panel. Even at total disassembly @ picture 4 I still have the clearance issue with the bottom of the bundle of instruments, etc. (that also seems impossible to remove without total mayhem.

Ok...so any ideas ?

I did this a few years ago, my top would slide out though. After I went through all that I found that replacement enclosures are now available in a fireproof soft sided kit. I probably would have went with soft sides had I know about them. Its like a beer cooler with flaps.....

Yeah, there's no way in the world that I could see how my top slides out without destroying half of the enclosure... At this point I'm thinking about some sort of hard foam that I could glue... But then I got to figure out how I clean the unders core so I have a good surface... This is not going to be fun

On the 400ss there is no way to get the top cover off without taking an engine out. The enclosure has two lag bolts in the bottom on either side that hold the enclosure/generator in place. I removed these to slide enclosure aft but it hits front of engine before it the top cover latches can be lifted.
Formula must install it before engines go in.

Yep, we definitely found one area that wasn't thought through very well... At this point I might just try to make sure I got all the loose material out and call it a day.

I'm pretty sure I can't clean it up enough to get any kind of hard foam to adhere... I guess I'll be stuck with the noisy generator.
