40PC Master Statement Port Side Leak - any ideas ?

Well my first how in the heck issue with my newish to me 40PC.

Attached are a few pictures of wet carpet I have right near the floor by the first step up on the port side of the forward bed.

The main water tank is empty, so it can't (or shouldn't be that), I've check all the rail above, and everything appears tight and secure. I have no idea how to even think about getting access other than start cutting into things.

Any ideas of how I might start trying to solve this ?

The leak is lower left corner of the picture at the base of the step where the floor and carpet meet up.

The fresh water system runs under that side from the tank to the sink. If you have been hooked up to water on the dock it could possibly leak in that area even if your tank is empty If you pull up the mattress there is some storage and access to the fresh water tank you may want to look in there. Another place to check is the anchor locker drain. The bow eye hook is in the same place and it kinked my line causing it to clog, it could have damaged it and caused a leak. It's under the bed also.

Ok yes thanks for reminding me, I am still learning all the details of my 40.

Strange though, is I noticed the wetness when we came on Friday Night, all week the water was off...as well as the pumps of course. But it could have been from last weekend and for sure I had the city (fresh) water on.

I will also check the anchor locker...is the idea that there is fresh water lines up there an if they are pinched I could get a leak and it could either be following a line back down or perhaps over flowing the anchor locker ? On first glance though the anchor locker is empty (except for the chain)

I will dig into stuff and report back.

Thanks for the starting point.

Well the saga continues, not how I wanted to spend my last day on the boat.

Torn apart the front berth...all the water lines were BONE DRY. So, lets keep digging. I then took the top off the bed frame off to get to the hull, where the anchor locker is to see if I could see water there...nope anchor locker bone dry and front hull under it bone dry.

Then I notice a dark patch...on the STBD side hull under the bed....grab the sawdust and it is MOIST. So I take it out (bag and label it) and shop vac and it looks and feels like I have water penetrating the through the hull. (for those that remember this last winter, it is about where I saw strange stuff in the bottom paint, that we though MIGHT just be sloppy work, but is there a connection)

Strange how the wet carpet on the PORT side let to finding this...are they related or not ?

Below are a bunch of pictures to show what I found. I am pulling in a few days, so I hope I find a small hole in the hull, if not this is not going to be a fun winter.

Are all of your porthole windows completely locked shut?

Even if one clasp is not secured, water will get in (especially at the bow of the boat), and water has strange ways of rearing its ugly head.

Yes all Port holes are sealed closed and there's not a trace of of a water trailer on either side....

Your post made me check again and I found nothing so it's a good thing to check off for sure though.

Sorry to hear that Jed. Do you have a bow thruster? If I recall from looking at the 2006 my friend bought, the tube would be in that area and maybe there is a leak there. Just a thought....

Yeah making me nuts....

Nope, the machine has PODS, so no Bow Thruster

Also the boat was pulled today and no apparent holes in the hull, so now my winter project is going to be a bunch of fun !!

Sorry too hear this Jed.

Is it possible that a hull puncture was fixed previously (abet shabbily by the pics from the other thread) and this is moisture that never had a chance to completely dry? I know I'm reaching a bit but trying to stay positive for you.

Jed, also sorry this is what you are dealing with.

Maybe reach out to TAG and see what they have to say? Scott would be my first call.

Keep us informed.

Dave

On my 37pc, I had a power issue with my Refrigerator,
It would cycle off and defrost, the water would leak out the door, onto the carpet and collect forward of the refrigerator on port side just in front of the bed.

It took a bit to figure it out, at one point I thought my dog was to blame. Who would have thought that the floor actually slopes forward ever so slightly.

MY 37 PC does the same thing. Had a leak in the water system at the solenoid located behind the fridge. Water pooled on left side in front of the bed.

Good morning and thank you very much for those last two posts.... I did do work behind the refrigerator last year and all seemed well but obviously I could have sprung a leak.

Never thought it would get from behind the fridge to that part of floor.

Looks like first thing I should do is tear out the fridge again.

Thanks again
