45 Yacht Platform

Hey all,

I know someone who has a 2013 45 yacht, which is NOT equipped with a hydraulic platform, but it appears that the platform is separate from the hull and that it might be possible to add the hydraulics/rams to the fixed mount platform. Is this possible and what is the cost to do so??

And if so, I am looking at purchasing a 2007 - 2009 45' and wonder if that is the case with that era boat too.

Thnx,
Steve

I'm pretty sure that the lift kits are assembled to a point by Latham in Florida and shipped to the Formula factory for installation on the boat. Call them, they are very easy to work with and will give you accurate info on what you would need to do and $$$$

I would also check for other lift companies that can do a similar product as good and maybe less $$$$ I had a Freedom lift 2 boats ago and it was awesome.

Thx Bob! What I've found out is, all of the fixed platforms can be converted to hydraulic. As you mentioned, Latham makes all of the equipment needed and can be purchased from them for around $45k. Formula wants $85k.... then there's installation cost.

OMG - had no idea it would be that expensive, has to be a much less expensive alternative. I had a freedom lift on my 48 Convertible that was about $22K installed and was awesome. I'd look around, boat shows are coming up and usually all the vendors are there. Good luck

I agree, and another option could not only be much less $$$, but could also be more functional. I assume you want to use the lift to hold and launch a small tender. Another alternative may give the additional benefit of allowing more room between the tender and your transom. Unless the only reason for the lift is to use it as a beach for swimming, don’t let this get between you and getting that 45.

That was my Reaction too, Bob. I know the Freedom left well, since I was considering putting one on a Cruisers Yachts I had. I'd be suprised, if that lift would fit on a 45Y with a fixed platform, due to it's depth. Thnx

It turns out that the boat I ended up making an offer on, has the hydraulic platform (check out my other post on hauling a 45Y). It is a must have option for us, since we use a tender a lot and the "beach" feature is an added perk.

This makes me realize how overpriced some of the 45Y's are, that have a fixed platform!

Good point on the pricing, Steve. And, fingers crossed you come to an agreement soon.
