496 HO Seawater Pump Impeller Replacement Parts

I puchased my boat with about 290 hours and now have about 375. I'm not having any problems but figured it's time I replaced the seawater pump impellers. I see the standard kit (part #8M0104229, engine serial #0W345020 & 0W345021) includes the impeller and O-ring, are there any seals or parts I should consider replacing while I have it apart?

Thanks AllDodge and HellRaZor, It does say in the listing that it's not for stock pumps, should I not worry about that?

Yes your correct, my bad (sorry) I look quickly for Gen 7 rebuild, and that one is for the solid stainless pump Hardin puts out. You need the stock

Hardin pumps use the same impeller as found in previous Gen Bravo pumps

Glad you caught it or I would be buying the kits from you for messing up

No problem AllDodge. On a side thread, anyone know the spec for the seawater pump pressure? Mine are about 3 psi at idle and goes to 11 at cruise.

I think your low on cruise. Just installed a pressure gauge on mine this season and I'm seeing 3 to 5 at idle, and 20 at cruise. I'm also on my second season for the impeller and Hardin stainless pump (Gen 2 style). Will be changing the impeller next season to check the differences

Was changing impellers every other year, but with the gauge I'm seeing if I can go for 3 years. The dual water pickups should show more pressure, mine are not dual water

I was using a kit like in the amazon link for a couple years, until I tried to replace the impeller. They use a shorter impeller than stock, and you need to get the impeller from them. Not sure who makes the impellers for them, but I got the run around for 6 months that they are due in "tomorrow". Never did get the 2 that I ordered. These are the people I had issues with, and it looks like they are the same people selling them on amazon by looking at the phone number listed...... http://www.marine-496pump.com/

Anyway, there is another guy that makes these wear plates, and he makes the bottom round plate thinner so that you can use an off the shelf Merc impeller. He sells them on ebay. I ended up using these.

Should be at least double that at cruise. If pump/impeller doesn't fix it check the tube that runs through the transom. Had to replace mine last year, it was pinched at the 90 degree bend.

sbdennis, is this the tube I've seen threads about on this forum that the engine has to come out to replace? :O
