Amtico Flooring

After 12 years my carpeting is shot. I am looking at Amtico floors. Has anyone removed the carpeting and put down flooring? I am wondering how rough the floor will be after the carpeting comes up. Any input would be appreciated. I can’t decide if I should attempt this or just get new carpeting.

I've replaced the carpet on my 40PC and it was a huge project, the floor is not even close to flat and I had to put a subfloor down then put the Amtico on top. I'm extremely happy I did it but it probably took me 60 or 80 hours to do the job.

Thanks Nate I think that I will also look into carpeting. I wouldn’t be doing the work myself. Contracting it out sounds to expensive.

The guy who looked at the flooring job for me said that he would chemically remove the carpeting glue and get the flooring smooth. Do you think that is possible without a sub floor?

Maybe he can use a leveler but it's not smooth enough with just the carpet removed. I couldn't believe how rough it was when the carpet was out. I had no idea carpet could hide so many imperfections. I was trying to find a picture but haven't found one yet. If I do I'll post it.
