Anchor Rollers coming loose

My front and rear anchor Rollers are coming loose. There's a tapered bolt on each end of shaft on which the rollers turn. I was able to access the front and tighten. However, the rear bolt has come unscrewed to the point where the bolt is pressed against the side plate. This prevents the assembly from rotating around the center pivot point.
I would prefer not to have to remove the entire anchor guide assembly.
Thoughts or experience?
Thanks!
Rick

No, and based on the scrapes along the side, the length of travel along the arc would not put the screw above the side plate anyway.

If you take the tension on the chain off and slack it wont it tilt up?

I had the same issue with my roller assembly. The screw typically won't fall out. Repairing the issue will require pulling the stainless roller assembly out of the boat. That was a 2 person job. The front caulk wasn't too bad to slice through. The rear caulk under the 8 screws holding mine in required a hacksaw blade and scraper as well as a 2x3" levered under the aft roller.

You may need to chase the threads of the shaft with a blind tap (5/16") (the tapered tip was cut off). I used Loctite red when I reassembled the whole thing. Then have some high quality silicone to bed the whole thing. I did this at the beginning of my 2017 with some mediocre caulk and had to redo the installation just a few weeks ago. And yes it's much easier out of the water.

OUCH! Yeah, I confirmed with TAG, gotta take the davit assembly out. I may just leave it as is.

I only noticed mine the season prior to my repair. The screw is "captured" by the stainless roller assembly and for the most part has no where to go. I worried about deforming the threads for the roller shaft. That's why I needed the blind tap. but we anchor alot and in good consciousnesses couldn't leave the roller that way going into the next season. Good luck!

Davit needs to come out. Good luck!

I took a piece of stainless flat stock, like 1/16” and made a flat wide knife sort of. Used a solvent made to dissolve silicone and took a few days and a lot of cussing.

After I replaced the roller screws, I didn’t bother to silicone the davit back in just in case I needed to get it back apart.

A real pain in the ass. Yep, been there, done that.

Reviving this thread in the hopes my issue isn't as bad as what you guys went through. A neighbor was nice enough to take a couple of photos for me when I pulled up over the dock. Would you remember what size this SS roller bolt is so I can have a couple with me next time I can get a chance to tie and fender up with my pulpit over the dock so I can fix this?

Thanks

Looks like the front lower one. Should be able to reach it with the tension off. Order the bushing, roller and screws from Formula. Red or Blue locktite and let set for 24 hours before use. The screws and bushing will look okay, but when you go to assemble it the threads will be no good. All new is the best way and not real expensive.

Thanks for info Dave. I grabbed 1/4" and 5/16" X 1 1/4" stainless flat heads and had with me. It was 5/16 and fit and it tightened perfectly in the pin roller. The opposite bolt was loose as well.

I actually saw it fall apart when retrieving as soon as the anchor stowed so pin and roller were in good condition. Formula says pin and roller BO 6 weeks so I am good until next season.
