Another Headliner Question

I didn't get to finish my new headliner installation last year so it's one of the things I'm wanting to wrap up this winter. I'm wondering if anyone might be able to lend a little assistance/advice/knowledge concerning the headliner in the v birth area. I've already pulled all the removable panels, replaced the material and reinstalled them. While the removable panels were out I also pulled the old material that is glued to the foam on the underside of the deck. So replacing these sections is where I'm looking for input. As it came from the factory, there is a section forward of the overhead hatch with a seam on each side. The seam kinda follows the outer edges of the center overhead panel all the way to the forward bulkhead. The seam on each side is sewed to the two side pieces, one on each side. I'm trying to do away with having to sew this seam and instead replace the small center section and two side sections as individual pieces. My idea is to use a track that would be attached to the underside of the deck, it would follow along the lines of the original seams. Each of the side pieces would be trimmed and tucked into the track, then the center section would be installed and tucked into the same track. It makes for a non sewn seam and from my research it looks pretty good. The material is glued to the underside of the deck so there would be no pressure applied to the track as far as holding up any of the material. It simply gets trimmed and tucked into the channel. A more common usage of this track system would be for acoustical wall panels but I'm almost positive I have seen or heard about it being used in boats for headliner applications. If anyone has any insight they would be willing to share I'm all ears. I'll try to post a few pics for reference.

Tenn,
I would think any fabric track system would work. Try fabritrak.com or fabricmate.com.

I have the same boat, but a 1996. The panels look awesome? What material did you end up using? I'm mapping out doing the same thing and also see those seems as being a challenge. I was thinking about using two trim pieces that would follow the original seam. Glueing together of course. Not sure how that will work out, but your suggestions sounds good as well. I see this dates back to January. Did you finish, and can you post more pic's?
