I have a 1990 242ss, bravo 1 7.4 in red/black/grey livery.
I have owned her for 7 years now and love her to pieces!
the boat and I are located in the UK and would love any help/knowledge or advice on its history. I keep her as original as poss and try to maintain using genuine parts etc.
I have VIN/hull number(s), pics and if i can, a name that it was once registered in (hiding in the gelcoat after the vinyl had been removed).
like I said, I love her to pieces and would ultimately love to find as much history as possible...maybe even the original owner(s)! Pics a bonus!
if anyone can help me, I'd be more than willing to submit details.

Many thanks.
Matt

I owned a 1991 242SS for 7 years. . . nice boat . . . but I guess you are looking to find info on the specific HIN that you own.

the previous name of the boat and where or who you purchased it from would be a great place to start. I've wanted and tried tracking down the Four Winns that I grew up on. Mainly just searched in the surrounding area it was sold to see if anyone had it listed for sale again. We didn't name her but there were tell tale markings that I would be able to identify in any picture.

Hi
I bought her approx 6 years ago in the UK, according to the bill of sale she was registered in the name of "sexy beast" (sometime prior 2009).... I know, I know...I can only apologize!
however, I can see some old vinyl markings in the gelcoat which look to spell something along the lines of "curly III (3)" or "Carly" port/location "Windermere"
any help would be great

Have you tried posting something about this on the Facebook? There's a Formula Boat Owners page that would probably get you greater exposure.

There is an area named Windermere near Port Carling in the Muskoka region of Ontario, Canada....
It is the premier cottage/vacation area in Canada with some of the best pleasure boating in the world.
Windermere is know best for the long time resort "Windermere House" and other destination resorts while Port Carling is the closest town and the "hub" of the Muskoka lakes with a lock system to enable boating access to the 3 lake chain (Lakes Muskoka, Roseau and Joseph).

Hope that helps.

Oh, there were some fantastic antique wooden boats named "Curlew" and "Curlew II" in the area but, that could be a bit of a reach.

Good luck in your research.

I have been to the antique boat show in Gravenhurst as well as Port Carling. This is a great place to see antique boats as well as boats in general. Nearby is Lake Simcoe and the Trent Severn waterway where you typically see bigger boats like the Formulas.
