Batteries? Charging relay

Ok 2005 31 PC. Replaced charging relay for windlass. Mechanic working on generator carb, believe he tripped port bank battery circuit breaker from charger..didn t know it was there so, two new port batteries and a charger later..
boat shrinkwrapped. Shore power hooked up and battery charger on..being told leave on all winter, not to leave on.
so I unplug power to outlet. After a week hear clicking under bunk, presume it's the windlass charging relay..as soon as I hooked power and battery charger back up, clicking stopped
so. Why are batteries going so low so quick, been told if shore power not on,but battery charger circuit breaker is, batteries will back feed to charger and go low
any ideas? Any similar issues with windlass relay, have boat for 8 yrs never an issue, normally charged batteries periodically in the winter
no idea what else could be draining batteries

Why are batteries going so low so quick,

Something is ON that shouldn't be, since its in storage the battery switches should be OFF

There should be no issue with leaving a good 3 stage charger plugged in all winter. The charger should go to maintenance once bats have reached proper charge level. Would need to look at how the charge relay is wired, but do agree it should not be energized full time.

If you don't kill every single breaker lots of things will still be powered up...

I don't mean to Breakers in the cabin I mean all the little push button ones in the cockpit...

Did I agree you should dare to leave a charger in all winter if you're allowed to I can't at my storage facility.... that's why I make sure everything is powered off
