Bennett Auto Trim switch

Kind of an interesting idea Bennett has.

Merc is currently working or maybe already available on integrating the tab functions into the smartcraft system. My understanding is that their would be many different profiles and programs that would make the tabs work in conjunction with steering, planning, towing or cruising to name a few for optimal boat responses.
I like all these technologies in boating. Navigating and performance will reach new highs. That is great. ;D ;D

VELOCITY,
I INSTALLED THE AUTO TABS LAST YEAR. I THINK THEY ARE GREAT. CANNOT SAY ANYTHING NEGATIVE ABOUT THEM. THEY WORK BEST WHEN YOU HAVE MANY PEOPLE ON BOARD.

Is there a way to over-ride them?

I like adjusting myself, mainly because I am often out in very nasty seas, and need to adjust for those seas, which sometimes may involve purposely "making" the boat list a bit, or raising/lowering the bow purposely.....

I don't have Bennetts now, I have Lencos.

At the very least I wish that bennets had a better way to monitor the position of the tabs. I know they have a couple of kits to do it but each one involves diassembling the trim tab pistons and I think access may be a bit of a problem for me on that. Also the displays they have are kind of big and I don't have a lot of dash space available. Lenco's are easier to add a position display to.

Mac,

I bought my Lencos with the Trim Indicator Switch all in one. Works great. Also the tabs are wired to return to retracted position when you turn the boat off.

FORMULA233,
YES, THERE IS A WAY TO OVERRIDE THE AUTO TABS. JUST TURN THEM OFF. THE TABS WILL WORK NORMALLY.
I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE WITH LENCO, JUST KNOW THAT OVER THE YEARS, BENNETT HAS BEEN VERY HELPFUL TO ALOT OF PEOPLE. THEY WARRANTY MOST ANYTHING NO MATTER AGE OR CONDITION. THEY EVEN WILL SEND YOU NEW PARTS WHEN ITS YOUR MISTAKE. WE CAN ADD THEM TO THE LIST OF GREAT COMPANIES TO DEAL WITH.

So I've heard.

I can't say anything about the Lenco customer service, as I've not had any problems yet. We'll see....been 3 years I think so far.

I agree absolutely GSENT, I do feel that overall Bennet is a better product and I have heard nothing but raves about how they treat customers after the sale. I was merely asking about this one little area of their product. I realize they offer indicator kits, I just wish they did not involve removal of the trim pistons as on a lot of boats that have built in trim tabs that can be a pain in the butt to do. Not impossible obviously so maybe this is my own issue.

Yeh I saw these b4. Interesting concept and, if it proves to work well, could be a very attractive option for many boaters!

Trim tabs that aren't recessed (built in during hull construction) get in the way fishing sometimes and are a source of line break-off. Almost lost a nice Tuna last year when he darted around the tab, cut the line and poof.....then my gaffer hauled him over the gunnel ;D Had gaffed it just as it went around the tab cutting the line :D
