Does any take there bikes with them on trips. We are heading to Peelee island in Lake Erie in two weeks and plan to take our bikes with us. I intend to put them on the bow secured to the bow rail, one bike on each side. What is your favorite most reliable method for securing them?

I often see boats at several of the Fire Island marinas with bikes secured to the bow of the boat, usually using several bungee cords. I have also seen people with them secured to their swim platforms, again using bungee cords.

I have seen people use pool noodles on the rail to protect the bikes and the bow rails. They will slice them and then wrap then around the bow rails.

I have seen this done before and have always wondered what the extra weight on the rails would do if in rough seas for long periods of time. Do you think it could work lose the bedding where the rail meets the top deck? Would hate like hell to get a leak in the headliner.

I myself would up for the transom mount.

I use water pipe foam insulation on the railing , already is split & you can buy that at any hdw store or home depot. I secure bikes to rail with Velcro straps from marine store. They have always traveled well, though , I have never been in very rough seas. Good luck !
