Big thank you to Formula

So I just wanted to give a shout out and thumbs up to the folks at Formula and especially a person I spoke with recently Karen. Bottom line is on several occasions over the last few years, I've called them for things and without fail get excellent customer service. Heck I'm not really even a "customer" i bought my boat used and it's 14 years old! All I know us they really seem go out of their way to help. Gave my serial number and poof, parts I needed available and how would you like to pay sir?!
I am currently doing some electrical work on my boat over winter and quickly found myself wishing I had the electrical schematics. I called the factory with my fingers crossed thinking it may not be available or that they wouldn't give it to me. Well within 5 minutes a complete .pdf was in my email inbox. I had a question she could not answer so she took my number and a few hrs later a nice gentleman actually called me and was willing to kill 10 minutes of his day going over my concerns. Wow.
I could go on but suffice to say I am very happy camper and wanted to share.

Yea, similar great experiences getting advice and assistance from Formula Boats, even as a second or third hand 'customer'. They seem to be industry stand-outs in customer service. ;D

AI agree. Formula is top notch not just for boat quality, look, and performance but they are a true service star.

TV Man,
I am confused. If Merc had a bad bunch of couplers, why would Formula be stepping up?
What about Merc? Why didn't you go after them? If your mechanic was certified, why didn't he get Merc. to take care of the issue?
Frankly, the problem should be addressed with the Manufacturer of the defective parts, not Formula.

The engine couplers on our new 1999 34 PC failed with less than 50 hours on it. The alignments were perfect. It turns out that there was a bad batch of couplers produced by Mercruiser. Our mechanic, who was Mercruiser certified, even showed us 2 new couplers he pulled off the shelf and was returning to Mercruider. I sent a letter to Formula, along with a statement from our mechanic about the bad parts. I was told the parts were out of warranty even though they were defective. It cost me over $3000 to change both couplers. Today, I'm still using the same couplers that were installed in 2000. Formula should have stepped in and they didn't.

Well that is still the ONE problem with Boat Mfg. The MFG Warranty is componentized...meaning Formula Covers there stuff and Merc covers their stuff....MERC should have stepped up on this one. Agree it stinks, but this is the way it is as the moment...I would still contact Merc, you never know.
