Bimini Stripped out of windshield

Yesterday I was trailering my 260 BR with the Bimini in the stored position with the storage boot zipped over the Bimini and the screws Pulled out of the windshield allowing the Bimini frame to scratch the crap out of my boat. Is there a better way to attach the Bimini mount to the Windshield frame other than the self taping screws. I was not happy when I got home and saw the damage this caused. I want to make sure it can't happen again.

Ouch - my condolences.

Other than larger self-tappers the only option I can think of would be something like time-sert, although I have no clue how much meat is on the frame to use them.

I will take a look when I am re-connected with my boat Jul4th weekend and see if I can;t find a better option.

I have a 280, there is a rubber strip in a track on the inside of the windshield, remove that and it will give access to the bottom of that hole and you can use a # 10 machine screw and nut, much better that a self tapping screw in aluminum.

Sure is a poor design.

Good Luck,
Butch
