Blocking Daylight from Cabin

Anyone else find it annoying that light makes it through the cabin door too easily? Wakes me up way too early in the morning.

Any ideas on how to block the light?

Yep I bought $7 of blackout material to match my cockpit color scheme I chose Light tan and I used 3 clear velcro tabs to install on the outside of the door and Bam

Yeah it actually Lays perfectly flat on top of the outside of the door and when I open the door simply slides inside the pocket I have cut a little section out by the handle so if I need to open it and close it from the outside easily I can....

Do you have a picture? Are you saying it’s permanent and slides with the door?

I dont have a picture handy, but I can take one this weekend.

And it COULD be permanent if you wanted it to - I take mine off once the family wakes as we like the nature light in the Cabin during the day. But if you wanted to keep it on, you could easily do so.

I wish Formula incorporated a sliding screen like other manufacturers do. Not only would the black mesh nock down the light but just being able to have the fresh air come in and the bugs stay out is awesome.

In general, Formula's cabin doors lag behind (which is funny, because they do the other stuff so well). One of my turn offs on the 350CBR is how the door opens and blocks the passage way from bow to stern.

Several manufacturers put a slider that goes behind the dash making it a non-issue.

One of the turnoffs for pursuing the 430SSC -- door is the same (and there's no separate shower in the head). Champagne problems, of course.

I completely agree Regal has it down but they have so many other things wrong.... I think the reason must be the molds are so expensive and change is so costly that formula just lives with it

I am surprised they haven't done a "built in" screen that takes up just the flat portion of the door. Pop out the insert, pop in the screen. Have the insert locked with a four way sliding lock from the inside. That way, you don't need a second door. (FORMULA, give me a call !)

I am actually looking for a way to retrofit my idea on my door right now.

Basically something like this, with a single door removable panels:

All very true. The sliding screen was so easy on my Sundancers and incredibly useful! Now that you mention it my door on my 400 not only didn't ever slide for shit - it was always jammed - but it didn't come even close to matching the rest of the white fiberglass. Very strange for such a high end build.

And now you have me hating the door on my 430! Thanks FastMarkA! Meh - the 400Rs will get me over the walk way issue. :) actually my gripe about the cabin door on the 430 is the shape - it has a cut out and at 6'2'' when I lean up to open it, I always hit my head! At least it only took me 1x to realize the hard top at the window walkthrough from the bow is only 6'1 3/4''. I can't seem to remember that cabin door tho!

Excuse the wrinkles I folded it the wrong way last week.

Completely dark inside the cabin.
