This is more of a FYI than a question, I own a 33ss with twin 496 mags Bravo 3 drives, my port engine was not working so I decided to bring it to a local marina on the starboard engine. I went thru the canals as usual 1200 RPMS I live in Cape Coral Fl lots of canals no wake zones. When I got to the river It was a calm waters so slowly increased the RPMS to 3400 and I was on plane doing 25 MPH. all good it seemed until about 3 miles later a mile from the marina i slowed to go under CC bridge and then I heard it the dreaded knock which got louder as you gave it throttle ,I immediately shut down the engines and dropped anchor. Not knowing what it was, 40 minutes later seatow arrived and took me to the marina first time I ever used seatow but I never go out without It. Long story short I grenaded the outdrive ,apparently according to the mechanic who is certified by mercruiser the starboard outdrive alone pushing a 10000 pound boat and the drag from the port drive and doing 3400 rpms was to much for the drive, which was true because when he opened it up there were missing teeth and chunks of metal thru out the drive not to mention the clunking sound. The moral of my story is DON'T go above 1600 RPMS on one engine at least I won't new drive cost me 7000.00 original problem with port engine was a seapump PSI sensor...Easy fix...FYI
