Boat alarm systems

Just went to my boat today and found that someone stole my garmin 7612. Does anybody have any recommendations for a boat alarm. I don't have any internet service so it would have to be a basic motion sensor alarm.
 
Well that really sucks!! Sorry to hear of the theft. Any other items missing?

Not really sure if you could apply a motion sensor and audible alarm like you have in a home security system on the boat or not. Even if you could, the question in my mind is what benefit do you get? Snatch and grab anyway. Or worse, destructive response from the perp to try and silence the alarm. May just want to remove anything of value and easily removed and place it in the cabin locked.

What type of marina are you in? Any security there?

Last marina I was in was gated 24/7, barbed all around, with security cameras. Stuff still got stolen off boats on lifts, in wet slips as well as on the hard.

Again, sorry for the loss and violation. Sucks. :mad:
 
Fake security cam on the dash of the boat with a Red blinking light! Or, a motion detector camera that records. Sometimes the presence of security is enough to deter a thief!

You can buy cheap ones that send a signal to your cell phone when activated like ARLO. It is real time data stream and works pretty good while you are away from the boat. Hope this helps.
 
Not sure where you store your boat, but I have seen motion sensitive cameras mounted on posts around where the boat is stored that send immediate alerts to your cell phone of any movements near or on the boat.
 
Thanks for your help. I just ordered a system from aqualarm as this is the 2nd time my boat was hit.

How do you like the system? Just saw it online, looks like an easy install. Did you get the option for the dialer?

I haven't installed it yet and I probably won't get back to my boat till the fall. I did not get the dialer.
 
gwazoo27 - I believe you said your boat has been broken into 2x now? I'd start looking for a new marina......
 
First time I was a transient in Jacksonville Fl about 8 years ago. This time it happened at my condo in a private dock.
There has been a ring of electronic thefts in the area.
 
That makes more sense! I got the impression that you were broken into in the same marina and both recently! Good luck keeping her safe... Check the Hull Truth for a solution as you will get a lot more active boaters with experience in this area.
