Boat lift

I'm looking for a hydra hoist boat lift for my 400 SS, I need at least a 16000 lb lift. If anyone knows of one they want to get rid of, please let me no, Thanks in advance.

16k is dry weigh isn't it? Fluids, fuel, gear etc? I think 18k might even be a little light. Read some of the threads on towing a 400 and those guys plan for more weight than that.

16,100 gas no hard top
17,100 hard top
18,100 diesels

I believe the rule of thumb is 500 to 1k in safety equipment, gear and water toys...

Then you have 4-6 guests climb on board before lowering the boat....

16k isn't enough. Just my $.02

No hardtop mine is a 2003 and prob weighs around 17000, friend of mine put a 16000 lb lift in and says it works just fine. I'm pretty sure they lift about 25 percent more than there rated from what I've read about them. Yea in all reality 18000lb would be ideal.

I ended up with a used "20K" 8 arm Titan lift. The tanks are sometimes cut or left long to avoid waste and increase capacity. The manufacturer said that it actually has a capacity of 22-23k due to the length of the tanks. I looked into ratings and how they measure the lifts. If I remember correctly, I believe a 36" diameter tank has the capacity of 300 pounds per foot. So you can measure the overall length of the 36" tanks and multiply by 300. Then subtract the overall weight of the lift.
Sorry to ramble but I questioned the classified capacity of used lifts when I bought mine.
good luck

Good call on the 20k lift. Had a hyrdohoist 15/16k pound and it would get it out of the water but the cradle was too small. I've got a used Galva lift now that's in the 27k lb range. No worries for me as it sits high and dry.

It's a dangerous game eating into the engineered margin of safety, by counting on lifting more than design limits. If it was mine, I would plan on at least a 4 motor, 8 pile, 20K + lift. Just my 2 cents....

Agree with the above statements I would not try with a 16k hoist for a 40ss. Before I purchased my 37 ss, my hoist was ready for a 33', then i added a tube pushing capacity 15k and it wouldn't bring it out of the water. Ended up going to just over 18k hoist which handles it fine now. Weight with a full fuel tank and water and waste makes a difference.
