Bow Pads Restorer/Protect

All, just spent a lot of time cleaning my 31PC bow pads. They almost look new again ;D Can anyone recommend a good product to help keep the vinyl soft and also protect against the sun's rays?

TIA

There is not a product out there that will effectively shield the vinyl from UV damage. There are some that slow down the process, but from what I have seen, they only help a relatively small amount. Best course of action..... bring them inside when not in use. Mine look absolutely brand new, but the time to bring them in can be a little bit of a bother.

303 is the best stuff I have used too. I regularly use it on cockpit upholstry, ect.... Just like wax though, it only retards the damage process. It's a battle one cannot completely win.

Not to chance the posting, but how many PC owners during the season use ONLY the "camper" enclosure, vs. using the cockpit cover ???

Cockpit cover all the time EXCEPT when pouring rain and then I use camper cover. People think I am nuts...but hey I didn't get a boat to sit in a tent 8)

Mostly full camper enclosure, but it's down pretty much the whole time we are at the boat. When it's pouring rain, we just stay in the covered slip. ;D

FWIW, after I get them clean, I apply #855 Collonnite. As V1 has said it is a never ending battle, bringing them inside is probably the best protection you can give them. The sun also does an incredible number on the zippers and cloth attachments.

Bimini up all the time, full enclosure up when warranted and while not in use. I only use cockpit cover in the fall while awaiting shrink wrap.

Listen to PT G, I've always getten great cleaning tips from him.

CAMPER ENCLOSURE GOES UP AS SOON AS I GET TO MY DESTINATION FRIDAY NIGHT. SUNDAY NITE, COCKPIT COVER GOES ON, AND STAYS ON ALL WEEK. TRY TO KEEP EISENGLASS AS NEW AS POSSIBLE.

I like Vinylex by Lexol, excellent product use to use 303 and this is much better, left a snowmobile seat out for 9mos only protected with Vinylex and looks like new and the seat is 14yrs old. Has a UV protectant also. that is the only product that we sold when I worked for an Upholstery shop, We tried the 303 just was not as good. http://www.lexol.com/category_vinylex.aspx

Interesting suggestion. My wife has a pretty nice car, and when we bought it, they "gave" us a 3 pack of Lexol products for interior leather care.

Getting back to the bow pads....my solution is a secret and they are perfect!

Ok, Ok.....

So I use 303

THEN I NEVER NEVER leave them out on the bow. After every use they go back in the aft cabin or under the cockpit cover. I store them during the week on the dash inside all covered up.

After 4 years, better than new!

MINE ARE STILL BRAND NEW IN THE PLASTIC THEY CAME IN, SITTING ON THE SHELF. NEVER USED THEM, AND PROBABLY NEVER WILL.

I assume that is because in your neck of the woods the water is WAY TOO ROUGH for simply hanging out ;D

NAAAAA!!! WATER IS FINE, JUST NEVER SPEND TIME ON THE BOW. HAD SKIN CANCER A FEW YEARS BACK, THUS THE REASON FOR THE HARD TOP. ONLY TIME ON THE BOW IS WHEN ADMIRAL IS LOCKING THROUGH, OR I'M SCRUBBING AND WAXING.
