Canvas "tent" for bow

Hello,

We have a 290BR and are thinking about getting a canvas "tent" made for the bow. We thought it might provide bow sleeping space for an occasional overnight in fair weather. Has anyone had experience with this? We had a camper top enclosure made for the bimini top and it works great, but we cannot use the bow for sleeping with all the filler cushions in, so wondered if it was possible to do a custom canvas for the bow. We keep our boat near Port Clinton, Ohio (near Sandusky and Lake Erie Islands) if anyone knows of a custom canvas place they would recommend in that area? :)

Happy Boating!

Nicole

Hi Nicole,
While I do not have a bow tent, I am sure you can find a fabricator that you could work with. Like you are doing here, ask around especially when you see a nicely done canvas job.

Be creative, design whatever you are looking for, have fun, and trim those tabs!

I am based out of Cedar Point and know of a guy/company that might help...just PM me and I can help out.

My post is late here BUT we did a tent type cover for our 252BR. It works great. We had a custom bimini made for the cockpit area that was a little higher that factory. We also had a plastic windsheild made that goes from the bimini to the windsheild (we never use it). We had a "tent" made that goes from the bimini where the plastic windsheild would normally jip in to the bow of the boat. The sides and front connect with buckle latches along the grab rail and the forward cleats. There is also a weather tight HD zipper that goes from the nose to about halfway up so we can get out of the bow if needed. There is also a window between the zipper after the zipper. We use the cover anytime we are at Lake Powell and the wind is blowing or we have inclement weather.

I would love to see a photo of this! I am picking up a 252 to go along with my current 303 next week.
