Changing waste vent filter.....

Does anyone know where the waste vent filter is on a 06 31 PC? i found a large white tube(about 2") coming from a tank at the bottom of the bilge. There is supposed to be a filter on this, does anyone know is mounted to the bulkhead. I was tracing it fine till I smacked my head(beer provoked ) and got frustated. Any hints and tips greatly appreciated (but no stop beer ;D) tips .

portside engine compartment tucked way up high above holding tank, you have to look hard for it

Yep I second that.

If you are sitting facing the engines...it will be on the bulkhead up and over your right shoulder, portside as mentioned - way up high.

Do you have to replace the entire housing, or is there a filter cartridge that slips in place?

If I understand the question, you have two options.

1) replace the entire housing, which is normally what people do..there is no "cartridge" inside.
2) you can "take apart" the filter, i.e. cut it in half and "replace" the old activated charcoal with new stuff from the pet store. Attached is a PDF I put together on how to do this. Easy and Cheap vs. spending $70-90 for a new one.
