Closing the Bimini Top

Does anyone have step by step instructions for closing the fore and aft biminis on a 370? I assume it's very similar to other models also. I received my boat with the biminis up and I've seen pictures of what they look like closed, but I'm not sure the steps to get them there. Were going to the air show at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore next weekend and don't want it obstructing our view.

I need that info too. I tried folding my aft bimini frame to the arch and that did not work. Wound up removing the frame and all. I thought on my 330, the whole thing folded against the arch an a boot went around it? Also on the arch there is a third screw hole for a bimini frame support?

Some Formula manuals include a DVD that shows how to open/store the bimini top and install the isenglass.

When I bought my 310, the dealer showed me and it only took a few minutes. In 2 years, I have always left my bimini top up and have never taken it down.

I believe that one leg of the SS support frame disconnects from the lower leg and folds up and attaches to the upper leg with a black holding clamp, then the top folds back to the arch, wrap the boot around the fabric top, then the boot zips and snaps to the arch. Similar for the fore and aft bimini sections.

Hope this helps!

Just to add, I have 2 different size boot covers....one large and one that is much smaller. Not sure which one goes forward or aft, but look at the boot connectors on the arch to see how it attaches.

If necessary, Formula Support can probably give you instructions over the phone.

Don't recall where, but I remember seeing a YouTube video a few years ago that showed how to put up and take down the bimini top to the arch.

I looked for a video and didn't come up with anything, maybe someone else will have better luck.

Attached is what I received from Formula, it's the installation guide but you can work steps backwards to close the biminis

Edit: Looks like the file too big to attach, if anyone needs it email me at andrewfratkin@hotmail.com

Front bimini usually takes two people unless you are extremely careful in removing. I've achieved by placing towels over the window frame, seats on both port and starboard and handrail leading to the bow. You will want to start by removing the front bimini canvas completely by unzipping from arch and frame. I store with my other tops under the starboard seat storage. Attach the two small boots at this point to the top frame for connecting to the arch later...remove the arch screws as well to prep for holding the frame. Unclip support poles (those connecting from bimini frame to windshield) and clip into place on the frame. Synchronize the removal of the second clips holding the frame in place and slightly bend in to align with the screws, install and snug down. While you continue to hold up at this point to zip in the bimini boots to the front of the arch where the canvas was disconnected.

For the back portion, I usually start by releasing the back straps that clip on the dog house bar and increase height of frame (pins on the side to ratchet up) which relieve pressure on the canvas zipper at the arch. Unzip only at the arch while leaving the canvas in place, I bring both middle cross supports back to the frame. Pull down on the canvas to pull through any remaining slack. Roll the canvas as tight as I can get it using the back straps to wrap and hold both ends which can get bulky allowing it to fit within the boot. Zip boot on and bring the frame height back down (shortens the back pole length) for attaching to the frame later. I start by unscrewing the starboard side back pole from the arch and snap into place. Port side, I hold with one arm while unscrewing the back pole, once disconnected I will snap into frame holder and pivot forward to rest against the arch...be careful as the only support here is you. Once resting in place on the arch attach boot tether to the arch and your done.

Thanks for that post NautiHoffs. I think I'm missing the two small boots for the front bimini, I'll give the boat thorough search this weekend. I guess I'll store the frame in my truck if I have too.

Mine were missing when I purchased the boat and got away with extending the short supports to the back window connections while the main frame is in the arch location, you should have enough length to extend down while keeping the frame close/steady next to the arch. I didn't think it looked bad. TAG will have the part numbers to order through ameritx (spelling)

Got to the boat this weekend and was happy to find the two small boots that secure the front bimini frame. These boots are only a couple feet long each and about 3" wide with three zippers running the length. I had forgotten seeing these when I first got the boat and had tucked them away. Really happy now I don't have to purchase these and really like the boat's looks much better with the bimini closed.:)
