Cockpit refrigerator

Hope some one can help me out. I have a 07 31 PC. the original owner did not order the cockpit fridge, it is now just an additional storage area. I am planning to install one in that space this winter. Formula install's the Isotherm cruise refrigerator, in the INOX version which is the flush mount. I need to know if they install the cruise 42 or Cruise 49 in that area. This is the door style not the newer drawer style. I think its the 49 however I am little concerned about the dimensions of it fitting in that space. If so I am wondering if they cut out the back wall of that space to make it fit. Any help would be appreciated.

I can't help, but I can tell you that I am not impressed with the cockpit fridge in the 08 34PC (which is the drawer style). The fridge is basically flimsy and opens on its own when bouncing over a moderately large wake. I would be interested to hear if the door style does any better.

Foggy

I have the same boat, but my fridge has the latch on the top center of drawer and never have a problem.

Do u have another type. Been very happy with it.

Yes the latch is in the same place. I will check out the latch. Maybe it is adjustable in some way.

Good afternoon.

I have the same boat i.e., 07 31' PC that came with the door fridge. I have had the fridge out to replace the door when the original latch broke (which has been changed on the newer models to where the latch is held in with a screw that can be replaced without removing the fridge). When removing the fridge, yes Formula cut out the area behind it to enable it to fit.

When I had the fridge out I also ran another 110 volt line / outlet and installed it directly to the right of the speaker on the arch on the top of the aft counter. Doing so enables me to plug a light in without draping the cord over to the outlet to the right of the fridge.

Should be a fairly easy install however remember that you will need both 110 / 12 volt connections.....

Foggy,

Also when the door shuts, there is a very definite "click" with the latch system. Hope yours can be adjusted. Maybe something is bent ?

Unforgettable

Thanks for the info. I did speak to the tech spec today from Formula and he confirmed also that the rear area is cut out. I did have the 12 volt run to the back and activated the 110 volt in the rear of the cabinet. Formula has a kit of the starboard material used for the false area to vent the fridge. Only question now is to go for the draw style or door. Both units are exact in size. Just the price is different.

Thanks for your input

I will check it out FFMN. Gives me a reason to climb under the shrink wrap.

I have the same boat of course, and I have the "door" style. Have to say it NEVER pops open, even in the roughest seas. I guess it depends what you want to store in the units...meaning it seem the drawer style might be better for tons of cans.

Best of luck!
