Compressor Oil Change Volvo D6?s

I finally got around to changing the compressor oil on both engines, in my 2012 45. I believe the recommended interval is every 5 years. I suspect this might be one of those items that gets inadvertently neglected, for some.

It took about 1.5 - 2 hours. I could not locate the drain nut, so I used a siphon to remove the oil. It looked like it would be very simple to locate, by the diagram, in the book, but when I got down there, it wasn?t too clear which, if any I could even see was the drain plug.

Also, while the oil appeared clear on the dipstick, I was quite surprised at how extremely milky it was when it emptied into the bucket.

Also, I expected to use 2X what I ended up using. I had 2 bottles of oil, but only needed 1, for both sides. Glad I got this done, and will now put it into the rotation, so as not to let it go.

For anyone who has done your own oil change, have you experienced the same, as above? Were you able to locate the drain plug, what was the condition of your oil, how much oil did you use? By the way, the book does not list the compressor oil capacity.

I did mine last year and I couldn't find my drain valve either. So I did the same thing as you and siphoned it out but mine was very clean. The records from the previous owner don't say if he ever had the compressor oil changed so I have no idea how old it is.

I think I ended up using about 1.5 bottles to refill both sides.

Thanks for the reply. I may change it again after next year, to see how it held up. The new stuff you put in, was it orange in color?

Same here. Sucked it out and replaced it. They are not giving that oil away :)
