I am considering a 2001 31 PC with twin Mercruiser 7.4L's/Bravo III drives with Kohler generator, windlass, ac/heat, etc plus with a tri axle trailer?
I am interested in opinions and experience on this model with incl performance, model issues and towing.
I would be mainly day boating in the Lake Michigan and Chicago River with my family.
I am coming from Sea Ray's, Regal and Chaparral.

Not familiar with that particular model but rest assured that Formula is an exceptional boat. We have a 98 41PC and the support from Formula is outstanding.

Great boat, survey is a must, have outdrives inspected for galvanic corrosion. As previously stated, trailering over width requires special attention like permits, CDL license towing over 10k, etc. weigh the options and possibly find a nice slip instead of trailering. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Some states have special oversize towing permits that allow towing with less restrictions than regular oversize permits. I know Arizona had an Annual Watercraft Permit when we lived there. It would allow up to 10’ beam and more hours on the road than the regular oversize permits. But with 11’ beam I would guess that you would be in the regular oversize permits. They are usually a one time permit with restricted hours, etc. check with your state before you buy a boat you can’t trailer. And do not tow it without a permit since your insurance will probably be void.
