Covid-19

I hope everyone is healthy, safe, and weathering the storm ok thus far. For us seasonal boaters this year's season is in a state of flux...who knows what's going to happen. Many marina's have temporarily shut down up here in NH/MA due to Gov't stay at home orders. Health and safety is the #1 priority but this is such a blow to the boating industry.

I'm sure most of you saw the notice from Formula Boats that they have shut down onsite operations for a few weeks (many thanks to the sewing team who manufactured my seat skins in just 2 days). I ordered replacement arch connectors from Ameritex this week and they said they are continuing normal operations until told otherwise.

My boat storage building is closed to the public so no more work on the boat until the shelter-in-place advisory is lifted.

Crazy times. Stay safe everyone.

I'm in Northern Illinois and keep my boat at North Point Marina on Lake Michigan. Normal open date is April 1st depending ice conditions if it is an exceptionally cold spring. North Point is owned by the state but was recently leased to Westrec (30 year lease). IDNR shut down all State Parks and historic sites before Illinois went to full on shelter in place. We are on hold until April 8th at the earliest.

Luckily I trailer my 27PC and have it stored at a private storage facility in Wisconsin. I'll be able to pull mine home and do some projects while waiting for the Marina to open.

To Westrecs credit they extended the end of season from October 31st to November 15th. Now whether or not Lake Michigan in the fall cooperates is another story. . .

Here's to hoping to a quick resolution to all this and the dawn of the 2020 season!

Were going good, everyone in our circle and the larger circle of friends is doing well also.

My storage marina is open, and my home port marina is open. The boat mechanics and yards are open as they are deemed essential businesses. At my home marina we are keeping the club house closed and the services. We turned on the water to all the slips last week because of the warmer temps so we are pretty much in full swing. People are already working on their boats and taking short trips.

BTW if anyone needs toilet paper we got ya covered! What is up with the toilet paper shortage anyways?

@ct_formula, are all CT marina's considered essential? If so, that's promising for me as my boat is currently in Norwalk...

I store my boats at the house. Still need to install the sea pump and couple other things and can put it back in the water. The marina is open but bar and restaurant is closed (hardly ever used). The marina owner opened the bar 2 years ago and has made a killing.

Cut grass yesterday and going back today with the batwing to cut the fields. Hope to get it cut before it rains again

I had mine dropped in extra early this year with the intent to be a part of Chicago's St. Patrick's Day river dye, but that event was canceled.

In hindsight, even though things didn't go as planned, I'm still happy with my decision because I'll avoid any launch delays, and I can do odd projects on it in isolation.

I did go out for a solo cruise on Wednesday because the weather was fantastic; photos of my boat on the water made local news headlines, along with games of football and basketball being played (contact sports!), as our mayor was left with no choice but to send the whole city to their rooms because some idiots were not practicing good social distancing, so now our public parks and jogging paths are closed.

Yeah, who knows how the wisdom of the Government works.

I have heard its all inclusive because of the fishing industry and the ferry services. When it comes to the dockage for the fishing industry they are in various marinas and ports and can't be all inclusive distinguished.

Maryland is locked down, stay at home order. Recreational boating is prohibited by Maryland DNR. Technically, I can’t even go to the marina; it’s non-essential travel. My 41 pc is in the water, covered slip, on shore power, still winterized. If this shutdown runs well into the summer, which I don’t think is out of the question, It would suck to launch, just to have a couple of months then have to winterize again. Boating season 2020 isn’t looking so good.

But our boating inconveniences aren’t anything compared to what’s going on in the world right now. Stay safe and healthy.

All UK marinas are shut down. I have bits of boat engines at home, drives at dealers and hull on the hard. Nothing is moving. Its a shambles of wayward parts. But safety is paramount and in a time when many are now bereft of work I suppose I should count myself fortunate. Stay safe all.

Well, Covid 19 messed up my daughter's wedding plans. The 140 person reception was to be in California on 6 June 2020. But there is no way to plan or pull this thing off with people wondering about flights etc. Even more difficult? The County Offices are all closed so they cannot even get a marriage license. We made the decision this weekend to postpone the Wedding Reception until June 2021 (1 year later). We figure we'll all party twice as hard next year. Some of you may know that my daughter did get engaged on my Formula in August 2019. If you'd like, PM me and I can send you the YouTube link of this surprise engagement. Now all that said, I am not going to be sad that we have to delay the Wedding Reception to next year. We've got US Citizens dying right and left, we have Doctors and Nurses in harms' way every day---so, I chose to be positive and focus on the good outcomes our health care providers are working on. Future son in law is an EMT and supposed to start medical school in August. Daughter is finishing her Physical Therapy school this month and will take the boards as soon as they reschedule. So the "kids" are on those front lines and will be throughout their careers.

Yes, we too are looking at having to postpone a family wedding that is scheduled for July. Things probably won't be back to normal by then, but we are still playing wait 'n see. Invites have been printed, but not sent.

We had sent the invites in the last half of February---and then things devolved to a point that by the middle of March we were sending out email updates to people about please wait until late March / early April to RSVP for us to give you guidance on what's going on.....

Sorry to hear Alec. So many plans and lives disrupted by this stupid virus disaster unfolding in slo motion.

Thanks PJ---we settled on a new date: Memorial Day Weekend, 2021. Since everyone is moving weddings, the hotel understood the situation and let us move it. I had a few vendors hurting with respect to no income for the next few months. Most were really happy that we said, "How about we just let the deposit ride?" (Some were afraid we'd be asking for it back). I offered another progress payment to one who was surprised that we were proactive in thinking about her. She was in tears on the phone. So, it will all work out. It's not ideal for anyone----but we're all going to get through this. Just have to think long term.
