Credit cards with cash back for gas

Does anyone have a credit card they recommend to get cash rebates on marina gas? In looking through the offers, it seems sometimes marina gas counts and sometimes it doesn’t. I was looking at the Costco card, but Im not sure if it would work on marina gas, whereas it appears Bank of America card might? Curious if anyone has any experience with this. Thanks!

For those who may be interested, right now it looks like the best cash back card on offer which expressly covers marinas & marina gas in their terms conditions is the Bank of America Customized Cash Reward card, which offers 3% back up to $2500 spent per quarter (1% thereafter). Thus if you spend $2500 in gas in a quarter, you get back $75, plus there’s a $200 sign up bonus. It also offers 2% back on groceries and warehouse club purchases (up to that same $2500 limit as the gas) and 1% everything else & all purchases over the $2500 per quarter limit. Every other card I found said the “MCC” (Merchant Categorization Code) assigned to the business had to be for a gas station, and one defined the codes as MCC 5542 & 5552. So if you are interested in those cards, you can ask the place where you get gas what code they are (apparently it’s a code used by all major credit cards, ie. AMEX, Visa, MC). Hope this is helpful to someone!

I use Citi Double cash, 1% purchase and 1% when pay off. So if your like me ya get 2% on everything

Otherwise I use Kroger card

This all depends on how the merchant is categorized with Visa, MC, AMEX, etc. and nothing to do with their actual scope of business.

Such is the credit card game of promotions.

My particular fuel dock does fall under "gas/gas stations," so I use a card that earns me 3x - 5x Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

There are some others that categorize as a marina, which in the Citi ThankYou point world, is considered travel. So I use that card to earn 5x points on fuel when it would be tagged as a travel expense.

It's a very frustrating albeit rewarding game when you're buying a few hundred gallons of fuel at a time!
