Dockmate system

That's certainly an interesting system - and the pricing is not CRAZY, but I assume you'd need their electronic to mechanical interface component?

It's Volvo IPS so it essentially becomes an extension of the existing joystick

Hey J, check out these guys too just for reference. They had like 3000 more installs than Dockmate and I used Dockmate's pricing to get them way down on price from their first quote https://www.yachtcontroller.com/

Dockmate was impressive I spoke with them at length at the Norwalk boat show. I haven't done it yet but probably will this season. Just not sure which way to go.

I'm an idiot - I didn't even realize there were any competing products. Thanks for the heads up.

Nah no worries, yacht controller has been in it longer and have more actual "installs" than Dockmate. But I was all in for the dockmate myself when I heard the price then, I went back to yacht controller and said guys I have to go with Dockmate as they are considerably cheaper. They asked for the quote and they MATCHED the price! I was floored.

If you go to pull the trigger they actually come out of FL for the install. Maybe once you work the deal with them we can double up and see if they can do a better deal for TWO installs. Who knows. But wait until you have a good hard quote from them.

I'm assuming you're referring to yacht controller when you say work a deal?

I've spoken with Marc Curreri who is the US rep for dockmate a number of times. He has 2 dealers on LI, one in Huntington and one in Montauk neither of which is close to me. He's interested in speaking with my marina about dealership possibilities.

My question is which is a "better" system overall, leaving out price.

Just spoke with Marc about his take on the differences between the 2 products. He actually used to be a yacht controller dealer and switched over to dockmate due to various reasons, mainly technical superiority. I of course understand he's speaking from a somewhat biased opinion, but I'm happy with my choice so far. I will keep the thread updated when I hear anything else and of course during and after the install.

Oh I was more impressed in the Dockmate, but when I looked at it they didnt have the longest history. But I did like the customer interaction at the show in Norwalk. So I'll stay tuned for sure, thanks J!
