Engine compartment/bilge heater

I have a covered slip and will be keeping my 41 PC in the water this winter. I’m going to winterize the engines and generator and everything else that requires winterization. I may also put a heating unit in the engine room as well.

Since there is not an electrical outlet in the engine compartment I’ll need to run the cord up through the hatch somehow. Has anyone else used a heater in the engine compartment? How did you run your electric cord from the heater in the engine compartment to an outlet above the hatch? Thanks

I ran it through one of the fuel tank access covers.

Make sure it's marine certified heating unit not just a plain household piece. You want to make sure sparking doesn't ignite fumes that might build up in the bilge.
