Finally did it

well, it was one of the hardest things i've had to do, but i sold my 40pc last weekend. i almost bailed on the whole transaction a few times, and doing the final delivery was painful at best. i only had that boat for 2 years, but i put 320+ hours on her in those 2 short years...and that includes probably 3 months on the hard. i put so much work into it, and it was so good to us (despite a nasty engine issue) that i had a really hard time saying goodbye. i'm still having a hard time accepting it to be honest...

but, i have a new one to look forward to! i finally closed a deal on a 45Y yesterday!!! ;D so excited, and yet so anxious to get her here. it's a black on silver hull which looks fantastic, and is a 2008 with only 87 hours on the engines. damn near brand new...and it shows that way too. she'll start a week long journey to her new home tomorrow, and that week can't possibly go by fast enough. i'll probably go out on the seadoo today just to get my water fix...and i know i'll be nosing around the docks to see where everyone is goin just i case they have some extra room on board. :) i love my time on the water! and i absolutely love my formula's! there was never any question for me...if i was going to go bigger, it was going to be a formula.

so, i just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all of the help on the '04 40, but now i'll have a whole new set of questions i'm sure. maybe i'll even make one of the longer trips to a rendezvous this year. :) thanks again, and if you see a shiny new black 45 on the Potomac or Chesapeake with a captain smiling ear to ear...swing by and say hey.

thanks guys! i can't wait to get her here for sure...

i'll try to get a few pics up here for you. btw, if the sea trial captain gets on and says 'i've never run a boat with IPS before' don't let him leave the docks! that was a scary 5 minutes before they called someone else to run the boat. ;)

Congrats Twarble!

Are you keeping her right on the Occoquan? We may come up the Potomac this season and we looked at Hoffmasters. We're addicted to covered slips!

Where on the Occoquan are you located? I know that area very well. I have been at Quantico for seven years. V1rowt8, you had better go up the Occoquan on your boat before you settle there. There is a long no wake zone. It takes nearly 30 minutes to get from Occoquan town where Hoffmasters is to the end of the no wake zone. It's boring. There are also covered slips at Hampton's Landing which is on Neabsco Creek and a very short distance to the Potomac.

gents,
i stay at belmont bay marina right on the Occoquan...about 200 ft from the end of the dreaded no wake zone. if you can deal without the cover, this is the best marina in the area IMO. it's all floating docks, and it's only about 7 years old. great marina with excellent folks all over. i think it's a bit of a wait list to get in though.

drynoc is right though...probably 30 minute ride, and it can be quite boring to hoffmasters. although i do it all the time to hit Maddigan's for drinks and food.

also...my old 40 is staying at Occoquan Harbor...if all you guys are around, we can do a mini-rendezvous in Belmont Bay or Mattowoman this summer!

Thanks for the info guys.

My case, it would be just a transient stay. As it looks now, a month or so at the most. If I end up in the area, we should make a point of all getting together!

Congrats again Twarble. I hope to not be far behind you!

yeah...drop me a line if you do make it up. would be great to hang out. if you're only doing a transient stay, check out Fairfax Yacht club. only about a 5 minute ride in no wake, and they have covered slips too...

take care,
twarble

I'd love to meet both of you, but it's entirely possible that my boat will be sold by that time, whenever it is. I'm not clear on V1's schedule or yours' twarble, so I don't know when this might happen. But if it is much later, I'll need a ride from one or the other of you (hint, hint, twarble). I'd also just like to see your boat when it arrives.

And the problem with Fairfax Yacht Club is that it will be very difficult to get a short term rental.

WOW congrats on the new 45. That is awesome. I would look you up but we are in Georgia so it will be a while. ;D ;D ;D

We do plan to do some events up that way in the future but right now we are trying to get a ton of loose ends wrapped up so we can get away.

thanks aquaforce! i've been drooling over this boat for a year, so i'm excited to get her home. if you time it right, you can try to catch her offshore on friday as she makes the run up the coast. ;)

drop us a line if you head up. a rendezvous may be in order!
