I just bought this boat and I know next to nothing about them, I think it is a 65 model, if anyone knows where/ how I can find out what engine is in it 302, or 318 that would be great..

Look on top the motor to see if there is a serial number. If its not there, look for a plate above the starter. If all that comes up empty post a pic of the motor. If it is a 65 it might be a 327

Jr.s came with many different powerplants and some were even sold un-rigged.
Do you have a tag in the boat like these?

I have done quite a bit of research on these boats so, if you have any questions fire away.

Throw up some pictures of the boat and it might help with figuring out what it was.

I don't know how to attach pictures, I do know it is a ford motor, The tag in the motor compartment looks just like the first picture you posted.

What is the HIN on the tag?

Yours, if original is probably a 289 as the 302 wasn't on the market until 1968.

To post pictures go to the "Go Advanced" button in the lower right, scroll down to "Manage Attachments" and click that. Then look at the top of the new box for "Add files" and click that. Then click "select files" and you should be able to see the files in your own computer. choose the pictures you want then click "open" and you'll see your picture file in the box. Lastly click "upload files" and close the box by clicking "insert inline" or "done"..

The serial number is F175663

That's a good looking old girl

I thinks so, I just hope I can get it running soon, there is not much wrong with it, I just need the time to piddle with it, the only thing I can't fix is the foot, the folks that owned it before me hit a stump with it and the prop shaft looks like it is pulled out of the foot a couple inches..

So does anyone know how much the old girl will be worth when I get her running?

That's a great looking survivor! Looks very original. Congrats on a great find. I believe your boat to be made in 1965 as a 1966 model (boat # 63). There were approximately 150 Jr.s made in total. You might find some information on your Interceptor engine here: http://www.marineengine.com/boat-forum/forumdisplay.php?13-Ford-Interceptor-Marine-Engine-Forum

A close production to your boat F175660 sits in the showroom of Formula Boats Ltd. (Decatur, IN) and I helped with the acquisition of another close production boat, F175661 in California last year. All 3 of these boats are survivors in the white/teal colour.

Man that is awesome!!, the one in the show room is almost identical to the one I have doesn't have the scoop on the engine cover and it has a windshield..

Any Idea what year either of those boats were made?

As far as I can tell, they are both made in 1965 as 1966 models. The scoop is factory and was for V8 models that didn't clear the hatch. Windscreen was an option afaik.

Thanks afratki, I like it, I just need to make time for it now....

If anyone knows a value on it please let me know I am curious if I stole it like I think I did...

They are not worth a fortune. Does your boat run?
In unrestored condition, if complete and serviceable... I'd say the boat in the pictures would be worth somewhere around $5,000 +/-. In fully restored (like new) condition that would rise to $15,000 - $18,000.
It's a cool boat so, if you like it and you bought it for what you consider a "steal" then it's a good buy. So. enjoy it.
Fwiw, I paid $500 for mine and that was the same price for the boat in California (previous pics) that was in much better shape than mine but was not running and the interior was trashed. There's one for sale in Michigan for $2,500 but, the owner bought it for $200 and has been trying to flip it for 3 years... no bites.

It is very close to running, for some reason the last owner took the carb off of it but he is a crack head to there is no telling, I just have to get the carb put back on drain all the fluids and fill her back up and she should fire off, he did hit a stump with the foot but I don't think it hurt anything but I am having it checked out..

I paid $1000 for it, I feel i got a good deal, the only thing would be if the foot is trashed but I am pretty sure it is fine.

I have to ask as I've been around boats a long time but I've never heard of anything on a boat refered to as the "foot". Is that another term for the outdrive or skeg?
