Fuel consumption ? 330SS

Was on the Boattest.com site and the quoted a statistic of 3000rpm, 29.4mph w/18gph of fuel used as the best cruise range. I think their test boat had 350mags. I find this figure surprising and kind of low @ 18 gph but what do I know.......

Anyone know or have some updated info on the 496mag package.
 
Castinas posted this a few months back which matches pretty close to what boattest mag. quoted. Fuel mileage has been discussed at nausum I know just wonder about my 496's

I do not think they give quotes per engine. If the number below are close I find that exceptional.

Those numbers are for both engines together. They are NOT per engine. One of the board members has a 330 with deisels. He will chime in soon.
 
Heres the figures from boat test.com, they seem more real if you ask me.

Speeds measured with Stalker ProSports radar gun. Fuel consumption (gallons per hour) measured with Floscan digital fuel-flow meter on gas inboards, sterndrives, and outboards, TechMate electronic scan tool on gas EFI inboards, Caterpillar digital fuel-flow meter on diesel engines, or permanently installed fuel-monitoring equipment. Range is based on 90% of published fuel capacity. Sound levels determined using Radio Shack digital decibel meter on A scale. 68 dbA is the level of normal conversation.

Other factors affect prop pitch, specially elevation, weight of the boat with smaller motors, etc.
 
How much are you paying for gas right now at the marina? How much for diesel? In PA on the delaware, gas is about $3.65 per gallon
 
We're paying $5.50 per gallon of gas at Lake Tahoe and $3.50 per gallon for diesel is Sausalito (near San Francisco)
