We have a couple of NEW 06 48 Yachts in stock and they need a new home.........

If you are interested give me or Troy a call at the marina 573-365-4001............... 8)

the 48's do not have ips. they have 660 hp cummins diesels with very big wheels.

That makes finding a home even harder with todays price of Diesel fuel  Looked at my 04 spec book and it says TBD for the 660's. However found an old boat test report that says below for 2005 model.

Test Power: 2 x 660-hp Cummins QSM Diesels
RPM MPH Knots Total GPH MPG NMPG Range NM Range dBa
1750 25.5 22.2 41.4 0.62 0.54 246 214 85
above is the best case.

Silly me I thought He was sitting on 45's. Nobody wants a 48.

Thats why I put them on here ............I thought you guys might know someone that wants a great deal on a huge boat!............

Diesel is the best way to go when you are pushing 35,000 lbs. plus at 34-36 mph!......... 8)

Why are you guys so hard on a 48 Yacht? Do you really think the 45 is nicer than a 48? If so you need to take another look. The lines are better, the speed is similar, and the cabin feels like a million dollar boat instead of a big 40 PC. I don't think the IPS is all its cracked up to be, I can put a 48 yacht anywhere you can put a 45 Yacht. Don't get me wrong the 45 is nice, but the 48 is a lot nicer.

Both of the boats are top of the line and have different styles. If you love the wind in your face and enjoy being the big dog in the box. Then the 48 is the boat you want. As Troy has stated you CAN put it anywhere you can put the IPS 45 Yacht. The boat is a pleasure to drive and rides like floating on a cloud.

If you are the type that enjoys air condition boat rides, all weather boating (rain, cold weather, etc.) the 45 Yacht is your choice. Completely enclosed cockpit, with generous seating layout, makes for a boat for all weather.

The 660hp inboards are beast and move the boat with ease I have driven it a lot and enjoy the power they provide...........BUT..........I also love the 430hp Volvo IPS system in the 45 Yacht I understand when you first buy that big boat how intimidating parking it can be and absolutely anyone can look like a pro driving it.

As Troy also stated both will run 35 mph and perform very well considering both weight in about the same. It is a tuff decision to make and you have to examine what you and your family needs are to make the correct one.........

The best thing is..................It is a win & win situation............. 8)

TROY,
WE ARE NOT BEING HARD ON THE 48, JUST THAT FORMULA CHOSE TO DROP IT FROM THEIR LINE PROBABLY DUE TO NO ONE WANTING ONE.
THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO BOATS, MOSTLY IPS. IPS IS STATE OF THE ART, AND PROBABLY WILL REPLACE ALL INBOARDS OR VEEDRIVES. IN A FEW YEARS, VEEDRIVES PROBABLY WILL NOT EVEN BE AVAILABLE.
WHAT IS THE PROGRESS WITH THE 45 OR 48SS? I HAVE HEARD THAT MERC/CUMMINS STILL HAS NOT COME THRU WITH THE ZEUS ENGINE PACKAGE YET.
FORMULA WILL PROPABLY REALIZE THAT MERC IS SECOND FIDDLE TO VOLVO, AND INSTALL TRIPPLE IPS IN THE NEW BOATS. WOULDN'T THAT BE NICE?

The 48 is a nice boat. I have a 40 PC with Yanmars and I to can dock it anywhere. IPS is definetly the wave of the future. Especially when a traditional company like Grand Banks is putting Zeusus drives on there new 41 that kind of says a lot. Then there is the old fuel cost issue. I boat about 250 hours a year. I do not own an oil company. If it came down to it I would rather be on a 3 foot shorter boat and have better fuel economy. Yes I do like the wind in my face when its 70 plus degrees out. But when its 50's I would rather be enclosed. Then again it's a boat and there is always a trade off.

As with anything now days, refinements in operating systems makes for better fuel management thus making better hp with smaller motor packages. Volvo understands this and has been in production a good deal longer than Merc.

Every thing I have read on the Zeus system has been less than expected on application as far as how much hp was need to match the IPS of Volvo.

As of last year in Dec.while at Formula plant Troy and I spoke with Scott while looking at the plug being made for the 45 or 48SS and he told us they were waiting to see how the Zeus was going to work.

I hope that Volvo comes out with a higher hp. IPS like maybe a 550 hp unit that would be great...

Put a set in a 48 Yacht would be wild.............. 8)

Gsent,
45 SS should be out in June 2009, It will be a stern drive Merc Cummins Package with a new Merc drive. No Zeus. Also was told this weekend that Volvo Joystick stern Drives are now available.

THANKS FOR THE INFO TROY. DO YOU KNOW WHICH VOLVO DRIVE WILL BE USED? WILL THE OCEAN SERIES BE AVAILABLE IN JOYSTICK?

No and the ones I have seen have changed so many times I wouldn't trust that it would end up looking like the finished product anyway.
