Mine happened to stop when closed. To answer your question , yes you can close it. at the rear of the hardtop is a lexan plate aprox 12x18 (guess on size). unscrew all screws and remove caulk. once plate is off you can access the motor and ram. you can remove bolt at hardtop and push forward with a boat pole or anything you have handy. while you have plate off make sure hardtop drains are clean. They tend to clog up from dust over time and hold water and then sunroof motor stops. I learned the hard way, previous owner never cleaned and when I opened it up water had already got to motor. Not a cheap fix. Formula wanted 5k for new motor and ram, I went on line and found it for 2500. When I reinstalled plate I did not caulk it, no need too doesn't leak, you could make a gasket .
