No idea where it's located on a 27PC but if you want to save some money you can get one of these.

http://www.bigorangefilter.com/

If you want to DIY, you can cut the existing one in half and refill it. Then use PVC plumbing fittings and PVC Cement to screw the two halves back togeather.

If you want more info let me know and I'll dig up some links!

My 2005 37pc has one located on the port wall directly above the vacuflush generator. Kinda hard to get to, but well worth it.

is he referring to the location of the filter or looking for a replacement filter? if looking for a replacement i highly recommend the Big Orange filter too. here are a couple of pics for your enjoyment. we used to put chemicals into the system but i have since found out that they can be harmful to the vacuflush system. since swapping to this filter we have had zero issues with any type of odor. it is also easily rechargeable.

Mr Tenn - do you have two filters...I see the "old" one in your 2nd picture...what does that do for you ?

Thank you all for your input! As Solyluna stated, he did not have one in his 02,I probably do not as well. I will call formula parts to make sure.if not,
I will probably go with the big orange . Thx again

the old one was laying there, you are correct. i had just removed it and installed the new one when i took the picture. it is currently lying in my garage awaiting the motivation to experiment with making it a rechargeable unit that i can pass on to someone who is in need.

for the life of me i can't figure out how a holding tank can be vented to the atmosphere and not have a filter?? how can it possibly not emit odors?

Thought you had a redundant system to help with the odors ::)

Want to try something new? A really innovative way to rebuild your own filter with PVC pipe and activated charcoal. Costs $ 25. I was intrigued and bought one from Ebay site and made it in 30 minutes. Perfect fit and so far no problems a year later.
Go to Ebay and search for --" SaniGard SeaLand Dometic Vent Filter RECHARGE KIT for marine holding tanks".

I also tried this and found that maybe I used the wrong charcoal. I bought it in an aquarium store. A week later, things started to smell real bad. Once I purchased the sealand filter, all was well.

I just got my BigOrangeFilter in the mail from the fine folks North of the Border.
Unfortunately the bag of charcoal popped in transit so I received a soot bomb.
Luckily one quick call and I was offered a full replacement; filter, charcoal, etc.
However not one to mind a little wipe down I gladly settled on a just refill charcoal bag instead.
Lets hope Canadian and US Post treat the refill with a little more care.

well i'm sure that was a bit of a mess! save what you could salvage into a zip lock baggie, maybe you can use it in the future. then again, i think the recharge bag is only like $25 or $30 bucks so might not be worth messing with. i spoke to the inventor of the filter and he told me he's had one in place on his cruise for better than 5 years and has had no issues as of yet. i didn't order an extra for that reason, i'd probably lose it by the time 5 years went by.....

I located mine last year in a failed attempt to replace. It is on the Port bilge, one end is easily accessible, the other end is behind the fuel tank bulk head. I have no idea how to get a wrench on that hidden end. It's been 3 years since I've owned the boat and about time. Any suggestions?

access suggestions?? the filter is supposed to be mounted in some snap-in clamps so maybe if you snap it out of those mounts you can reposition it enough to get to it. see above for replacement suggestions ;)

also, you don't need a wrench, use a 5/16 nut driver and loosen the hose clamps. that way you add extension to help you get to it.
