How Many?

Anyone know how many 45 Yachts Formula built over the production years of the model ? It would be interesting to to how many they built in each year and a total production run. I expect that it is a low number as it seems like in later years it was a more of a "order" vs an inventory stock boat.

I actually asked TAG that question when I was hunting. Seems to be from 2014 - 2019 average 6-8 per year, only 1 in 2020. From memory, that is what I recall.

Power Boat Guide, states production started in 2007 replacing the 48. The guide sometimes has total units but typically after production has ceased for a year or two. I was under the impression that you could order one, however a Formula representative at one of the shows told me you can't. He said the area/building where they built the 45s is now dedicated to the 500 SSC, so essentially capacity is gone. He further mentioned that they weren't getting orders but are backlog with 500 SSC orders together with the other crossovers. A transient in my marina with a 45 told me his friend sent in a deposit on 45 and Formula sent it back to him. One would think there is still demand for a boat like the 45, but all the high end manufactures are building these expensive outboard, essentially day boats. Hopefully it helps us 45 owners when we go to sell.

So I assume its safe to say from the first flagship 2004 47Y to the single 45Y manufactured in 2020 Formula made a total of approx 113 of these Cruisers?

I feel a touch special now....lol.

I have an even rarer 45 Yacht with Volvo 575s and shafts

I think in all my searching I've seen a handful over the years with either Volvos or Cummins and shafts and they were all 2007s

So who bought the one 2020 produced 45 Yacht ? Are they on this forum? I saw it for sale about 9 months ago. Who was the lucky person that purchased the last 45 Yacht that was created?

I found this article with pictures on the Facebook Formula boats site.

This past spring the Devlins took delivery of their third new

Formula, a 45 yacht, a dream of theirs for many years. After this boat rolled off the assembly line, Formula decided to stop production of this model. Gary and Lisa made a great decision to trade their 370ss for this spectacular boat and they never looked back since.
The Formula team made this unique plaque for them commemorating the last 45 built. Gary and Lisa are big fans of the ?MASH? sign board from the TV series, so?? this is what we came up with. Hang it proudly on your outside bar guys and have drink on us?. enjoy your boat and thank you for your loyalty. Merry Christmas.

Apparently I’m not the market that Formula is going after, but I don’t understand why they stopped making the 45. If I’m spending $3 mil on a boat I want something I can do some serious cruising on or something I can do some serious fishing on. The 50 is neither.

Actually, if I had $3 mil to spend on a boat I’m picking up a (obviously used) Viking.

I feel the exact same way. I toured the new 50 at the Ft. Lauderdale Boat show and while it is beautiful and big it is not set up for the style of cruising that we do. We need a large salon and at least two staterooms with real beds. It looks like they made if for the coastal crowd that runs from dock to dock with out staying on the boat for long weekends . I know they had to stop the 45 to allow production space for the new 50 but I sure hope Formula will consider producing another large cruiser like the 45 Yacht.

Sea Ray abandoned me as a very loyal customer when they stopped making large cruisers with large cockpits and living spaces and I hope that Formula does not do the same as I will be in the market for another boat in a few years and love the style an quality of the Formula Yachts. I bet there are a lot of inland boaters that feel the same as I do.

I think they are done with PC type boats now that they’ve all been discontinued. I don’t quite understand where all the demand for these multimillion dollar outboard powered day boats is coming from. Don’t people spend the weekend and like to cruise on their boats anymore.
