Hull ID

Good evening.

I am trying to find out the details of a boat we have just acquired which required some restoration.

Im looking for some manuals etc, however first I need to find out what model exactly it is.

The hull id is TNRD8430F889

Would anyone be able to tell me exactly which model it is?

I know it was built in 1988, 1989 model.

It has a radar arch, facing rear wards, and it is approx 29-31ft.

Any help is appreciated.

I will attach some photos of it, before we start, but currently there is about 6 inches of water inside that needs to be drained forward of the engine bay.

Many thanks

Hi Gsent,

Many thanks for your reply.

Sorry I totally new to Formula, is there a website or a contact for them?

I have restored a 19 ft bowrider, with full engine rebuild, but new to formula.

Thanks again.

Many thanks for all of your replies, I did get a reply from the email suggested above, and they have provided some limited details.

We will be starting this rebuild in the near future, but we are first building a large shed to be able to put it in to work on it!

The model is a 1989 29PC, it has twin Volvo penta Diesel engines with DP outdrives.

There is a shore power lead, but I’m not sure where this goes!!

Does it just power some outlets? Or does it go through a transformer rectifier and convert to Dc?

With the twin engines, my plan is as follows.

Alternator on each engine to each dedicated battery.

Power steering on one engine.

Solar panel 250w ,

Ground shore power

House batteries to run everything in the boat.

All these will be run through a battery management system, I have seen simarine system, something like that.

I plan to have the shore power feed into the batteries, and with some sort of smart charger, that can use the solar first, and trickle charge the batteries when the engine is off.

I would like also to add in a diesel heater, and have maybe 3 outlets, than can be closed individually.

If anyone has any suggestions, or even a better setup, I am very open to suggestions, and would very much appreciate the advice.

As far as the engines go, I believe they are working fine, just need a good service. The outdrives need to be pressure tested, new impellers, and I will be replacing the water pumps also.

Two of the engine gauges are not working, so I will have to track down some for the panel.

The head is a sea water system, with raw water induction, and straight out through hull discharge, so I will have to install a waste tank.

Other than that, it’s interior, new carpets, headlining, and maybe to install a bulkhead and door for the forward bed for privacy.

Lots of work, but really looking forward to it.

The boat will be based on an inland waterway, mostly slow speed, with short overnights maybe 4 -5 days.

We would really need a larger model!!!

Thanks again for all the advice so far.

Hi rogeo,

Dont know if it helps but my hull id starts with the same letters. Its TNRD7171L687. Its a 1988 formula 28pc so very similar. got 2 engines as well. The electrics in my boat are a mess but my plan is to have 2 victron agrofet battery isolators. Each alternator feeds its own isolator but the output will be paralleled. So always charging the battery with lowest voltage most, regardless of which engine is running. other than that im installing a victron multiplus inverter/charger. Hope this helps. Frenk
