Icom M304 forward compatibility in 08 27PC

Admittedly creatively wasting time while on a flight delay...
I can check myself this weekend, but am 1000 miles away from my boat this morning. My Icom M304 VHF is not transmitting. Rather than repair, I'm just going to replace it; might as well upgrade in the process. It appears that the M324 will have identical power and antenna connections. Only the external speaker connection may be unique. Anyone make a similar change that can cue me in the speaker wiring config?
 
I had a similar problem and because I did not want to alter my cut-out in the helm, I sent the unit back to Icom and they repaired it promptly and inexpensively, roughly 50$ plus shipping. might be worth considering--they were very helpful.
