I would like to start a discussion on installing a new bilge pump - 2005 40 PC. My boat has one Rule bilge pump which I can't get to, and it is practically impossible to see it unless the battery covers are taken off. I think the bilge pump switch in the cockpit panel turns all the pumps on (including those in the cabin floor) and water is ejected out of the manifold.I really am not sure how much bilge water is being pumped out.
Question is what is best location for install and what type of pump. i am thinking of two whale Super Sub pumps, one below each engine.
As per whale - "Supersub Smart 650 and 1100 are automatic. The pump will sense the presence of water and will switch on the pump, turning it off again when the water level has dropped. The switching is solid state hence there are no moving parts. The Supersub Smart models allow waves of water to pass over, without turning the pump on every time, as it has a built in time delay".
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
