intermittent delayed Forward shifting

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend.

Upon returning to my slip yesterday, I have noticed my port engine has a delayed response when shifting into forward. Reverse seems to work fine.

I did shift the engines while not running and found that the port engine did not engage all the way into forward.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks,
Rob

Assuming by age this is cable shifted, bravo drives? What type of controls do you have, separate shifter and throttle?

You could try playing with the sift adjustment. Does it go into reverse really quickly?

Was it perfectly fine then gradually stopped working?

How many hours on the out drives?

They are all newer cables.

I have Livorsi shifters, independent gear shifting from throttle. Boat shifts right into reverse.

It worked fine most of the summer, noticed a slight delay a few weeks ago, and then this recently occurred more noticeable.

about 875 on the drives.

Cone clutch is going bad, sorry but it will only get worse. Pull the drive and have your upper rebuilt, the marina will replace your upper gear set and bearings with the clutch.
