Is there supposed to be water in here?

Front hatch in the main salon on 2007 40PC. Has water at the bottom. No raised storage platform or anything over it. Is that normal? If so has anyone built something so they can use it for storage? If not, is there a special pump for it?

Thanks,

Jeff

Well not normal per say...it is a bilge though...mine stays dry.

I would shop vac out and monitor.

Thanks for the suggestion. I pumped out the chamber, and towel dried it. Water seemed to be coming in from the bow. I'm thinking I have some sort of leak in my water tank. My next step is to drain the water tank and see if the chamber still fills with water. Stay tuned.

Yeah water should not be coming and you got something going on..

Remember it could also be your city water line somehow so make sure you disconnect all water sources and drain your tank

I get water in there when my shower box overflows or leaks. That compartment all the way to the access hatch under the aft cabin seat is connected. For me it's always difficult to get the whole thing dry, I dry it from all 3 locations.

You got it nate it's the gray water tank, most likely the float switch.

My bilge would usually stay dry. If the sump box would over flow usually due to a faulty float switch it would spill into the bilge. There should be a float switch and a water pickup below behind that hatch.

I was tired of replacing the float switches so I sealed the holes and threaded some machine screws into the side of the shower box like studs then installed a Whale Electronic float switch on the studs. If it needs to be replaced I don't need to remove the screws from the bottom of the shower box and get it completely dry to seal it. I haven't had to replace it yet and I was replacing the mechanical float switches on a regular basis.

Next time you have a a second any chance you can take a picture and let us know what model you got sounds like a great upgrade

So it looks like it is still "accumulating water" even after I fixed the broken float switch in the gray water box (which was a good thing though). It is fresh water. The hunt continues.

Check your AC drain pan hose. I actually leave mine disconnected as water tends to get too high in the drain pan as, in Houston, the AC runs alot even in the marina. The drain pan is normally connected to the gray water sump.

So I completely emptied the fresh water tank and the water stopped accumulating. Then suddenly this afternoon there was water, which baffled me.

Did you have the city water on or is all water completely off

Wow.... sometimes it takes a while for it to completely drain I'd try to shop vac it out leave everything off and see if it comes back
