Isotherm Cruise 200 - R134 leaking over winter any ideas ?

I have a Isotherm Cruise 200 (side by side doors) in my 40PC

Turns out I now have a leak that only shows itself over the winter. Meaning I hired a local tech (who really did not know much) who used a vacuum pump to pull out all the old R134....held a vacuum on it for a few hours no leak.

Then filled up with exactly the correct amount (I think 44 grams or whatever it was) and all last season it cooled perfectly.

Finally launched this spring...fired it up and zero cooling. So I can hear the compressor and fan running...so must be a leak that somehow only leaks during 6 months of no use.

Any reason this might be a starting point ?

Problem is I really can't find a local tech in NE Ohio that can fix....replacing is a $2,500 problem that forces some boat tearing apart that I am not ready for yet.

Any advise welcome....thanks in advance.

Jedd,
Many things can cause your system to leak. If the vacuum test was completed properly, the system should hold. Check the schrader valves for leakage. They will not show up on the vacuum test because hoses are connected and holding them open. If you are having it serviced, replace the guts to the valves to be sure.
If you find the valves are not the problem, pressurize the system with nitrogen to a couple hundred pounds and I am sure the leak will show. Your tech can also install die into the system that will be detected with an ultraviolet light where it is leaking.
Good Luck.

Jedd,
you must remove the refrigerant before these can be changed. I suggest you have your tech change them, pressurize the system and check for leaks. They are similar to a car tire valve stem.

It will as most valves are the same size as a tire. Auto A/C stems have some bigger ones as seen in the kit. Do you have a way to evacuate the system and add the refrigerant? Can you remove the refrig and take it somewhere?

No way to easily remove and there is nothing in the system to evacuate.
I have some spare Schrader valve cores and the tool to remove and replace them if you still need help

Oh so cool - I ended up able to use something in the amazon kit, hopefully it will hold.

Oh, you going to the Bay this weekend ?
