Its Here!

Are you planning on doing the loop.
That boat looks like a perfect boat for looping.

The Boat is a 2003 Nauset 28. I would like to head north and explore Nova Scotia and the Canadian territories. I also enjoy fishing off the coast of New England, and this boat will expand the options tremendously. She has a single 220 cummins diesel and will give me a range of 450-500 miles at a conservative cruise of 11-12 knots. Before you guys jump on that, understand that is 40% faster than the Mitchell I was in. The Mitchell is the smaller boat in the foreground. I will be building a trailer for this boat and it will sleep in the garage when not in use.

I like that range!!!
A diesel 400SS will not get quite that much but it is also twins. With the Volvo D6's the range is 350-375 miles but the speed is more too.
Sounds like some great trips coming up.
Happy Boating..........even if it is not a Formula. ;D ;D ;D

I hear you on the speed. I did own a 330SS with a pair of Volvo KAD44 diesels. The boat was incredible to say the least. I had one day where I covered over 400+ miles in the daylight hours. Boat would cruise @ 38-40 kts an get 2 3/4-3 NMG. I'm in the northeast on buzzards and cape cod bay, Often offshore and if I want to be weather dependent the Formula would be great. Once reality sets in a slow cruise in a downeast hull will get me where I want to go and I will not get beat up in the process. I prefer a single diesel to twins and have no reservation being 70-100 miles off shore with 1 engine.
There are times that I do miss the Formula, There is rarely any exhilaration in a Downeast boat. "until Charlie strikes" But I think back to the days of running the Formula and all that I missed because I passed by so quickly. Maybe I'm getting "Older" or perhaps "Wiser" only time will tell.
On another note, I would like to express my Thanks to the Forum and Members for their patience and tolerance of my non Formula status

Just figured out how to make the garage bigger. Sell 1 boat! The Mitchell now has a new home in the Keys.
Mondaythe steel is coming for the trailer for the Nauset.
