Kholer 7.3 UU AND LOC codes

Hi all wanted to give you some info on a UU code and LOC code. Usually I change out the impeller when I get these codes and the generator is fine however this time around the impeller was in good shape and turned out to be the water sensor that is connected into the heat exchanger with two wires.

So after replacing the impeller I got the LOC code again. Disconnected one of the wires to the water sensor on the generator and it ran fine. Ordered a new water sensor and we're back and running.

Good to know. Curious, how often you change the generator impeller? You go more so by hours or time?

I go buy when it shuts off due to one of the codes LOL. I keep a spare impeller on board all times. 5 minute change out. Its usually about a season and a half deepening on use.

Maybe its already in another post, but would appreciate knowing the procedure to replace the impeller on the Kohler 7.3

Bringing up a old thread. This happened to me this weekend. I got the LOC code changed the impeller and now I am getting the UU code. Were is the water sensor located? Also could it be a low battery? I am going to check that also.

Thanks

Water sensor is next to the flow switch on the non-service side (back). Black with two white wires going into it. Can't understand why a required service item as the flow switch is on the non-service side? I am dealing with the same problem. Spoke with another owner this weekend and it may have to deal with going through rough water. Mine is under warranty and am working to get it resolved that way. BTW I changed the impeller, cleaned the switch and flow is strong for the 10 seconds before auto shut off.

Well after playing with the intake hoses a few times I finally got it to stay running. Ran it for about a 1/2 hour this weekend and it worked fine. Hope it continues,

I’m getting a UU code also I just put in a new batteries in Boat, had a mechanic out and 3times he can’t find out why I keep getting UU code. I’ll check water sensor. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Mine was finally repaired. The switch moved correctly but once taken apart, it was clogged. After cleaning, no problems. Chalk this one to a new experience. Next time I will know to not just check movement.
