Kohler 5e issue

My generator stars fine. It runs for 5-10 minutes then stalls. Fuel filter, oil filter and spark plug all changed in the beginning of the season. It's on a 2000 27pc. Any help would be appreciated . I have a good water flow coming out of the discharge . Thanks John.

My suggestion is to check the impeller. Really easy thing to do. I had water flow, but it would shut down after about the same amount of time due to being too hot. I took the water pump housing cover off and one of the vanes on the impeller had broken off and was somewhat clogging the outlet side to the heat exchanger.

It could also be a fuel supply issue. I am having a similar issue with my generator. Run the generator from the actual unit as opposed to the panel. There you should see an error code that identifies what the unit experienced. Our kohlers are different years and models but mine runs about 5 minutes with varying load levels no problem. Then it begins to slow and eventually stalls out. the unit throws a 'slow engine speed' code that I searched in the manual. I am still under warranty so I passed it off to Formula/Kohler and that seems to have been the issue. Check your fuel seperators esp since I assume you are running gas. this new fuel falls apart easily and can cause issues as well. Especially if you do not run your genset regularly. I am very guilty of this and the Kohler Tech and Formula Tech both told me to run the genset every week regardless.
