Kohler won't remote start

2008 27 PC Kohler gennie does not respond to the Start/Stop switch at the electrical control panel in the cabin. No issues at all starting from the main switch at the generator. Tried all switch configurations that make sense at the cabin panel, but it won't activate the starter when off, or turn it off when on. Am I missing something obvious or possibly just a dead switch? Gen runs great, but it's a hassle to open the engine hatch on a 27.

I have the same issue from time to time. Mine will not start from the remote switch. I have found that when this happens, the generator has a code on the display. It seems to throw a LOC code 90% of the time when its shutting down. So the next time I use it, I have to open the hatch, clear the code, and the remote button will then work.

Are you turning the batteries off at the end of the day? Once it's started on the gen will the remote start work if you kill and try it again?

make sure the switch is on Auto, I had a surveyor tell me my switch was bad but they just never switched it over to auto

Thanks for inputs. I noticed last use that I was getting an LOC code (while starting it at the gennie). Checked and all seemed ok, but it stalled a handful of times and threw the LOC code. Again, no problem found and it did start 3rd-4th time and run fine. I'm certain I've set switch to Auto, but will reconfirm this weekend. Soonerjake - house or starter batts? You may have something here... Heading up this weekend and will run thru these checks!

A couple of buddies have similar year 350s and 400s and if they turn off the battery switches they have to use start button on gen the first time. Remote start works great after that.

ditto same here

Interesting stuff. Cycled the battery switches and methodically went thru the start process with the switch on Auto. Fired right up from the remote. For now, the problem appears solved, but I also had no LOC codes appear. This time. Solved. For now.
