Leaking Shower

Looking for an assist on resolving a leaky shower unit on a 2005 34 PC.
I was able to access part of the line plumbing through the aft cabin via two access panels in the cabinet behind the flat panel tv

However, there is no way to get directly behind the shower tap to resolve the issue. I was able to cut the pipes and insert a Seatech valve in the line to turn off the (hot and cold) water flow to isolate the shower so the rest of the boat plumbing works.

I am considering cutting an access hole in the aft wall behind where the shower tap is, as much as I don't want to cut into the vinyl et. al.

Does anybody know of any other way to gain access to the back of the shower tap on a 2005 34PC??

Nothing wrong with a well placed access panel. If you are cutting through vinyl either cut the vinly first with a utility knife or run the hole saw in reverse to cut through the vinyl then switch to forward to cut through the bulkhead. I use 2 rare earth magnets to find the location that I need to cut the hole. Form the backside tape a magnet on the bulkhead where you want the hole. Then go to the good side and the second magnet will find the first one. No measuring needed.

Thanks GSent... Sent an email to TAG to see if they had an alternative solution. From what I can tell my only option is an access panel.

Great suggestions Comodave on creating one. Using a utility knife had come to mind to start, and the magnet is a good idea.

Has any other 34PC owner had this same issue and resolved it?

I have cut the vinyl many times using the hole saw in reverse, absolutely not in forward. Drill the pilot hole first and then put the hole saw pilot in the new hole and run it in reverse until the vinyl is cut. Or just use the utility knife. You can still drill the pilot hole and insert the pilot bit on the hole saw then mark around the hole saw with a Sharpie to get the line to cut.

Thanks Comodave.
I need to get my hands in there to do the repair? Is there a large hole saw you are referring to that will do the job?

It depends on the size of the access plate. I have hole saws up to maybe 6.5” or so. Typically access plates come in 4” or 6”. The hole for a 4” may be 4.5”. Depends on how big a hole you need. Measure the access plate and get that size hole saw. You get a bit more size in the hole with the access plate not installed so I do the work before I actually install the access plate.

Copy that, thanks Comodave for the info... I bought a 6.5" hole saw, didn't even know it existed. Now for two reasons.

1) to create an access panel on the interior to fix the shower and put in a simple screw panel over it.,
2) I am replacing my old damaged and bent three step ladder on my 34PC with a four step (Formula Part# 34501 Windline R-1786) and getting at the ladder bolts deep in the swim platform is a PITA, so I am popping in a round access hatch to be able switch it out.

Thanks for the assist.

We put a swim platform extension on last winter. I wanted to get rid of the OEM ladder since it rattled and would never be used again. I looked at the bolts and laughed, absolutely no way to get to the nuts. So I used my grinder and cut the hinge pin off. 15 seconds and problem solved.
