LED Lights

Gabby Girl:

I too have a 2005 PC. Which lights did you order for the reading lights in the aft cabin, located on the wall? At your suggestion I replaced some of the recessed cabin lights with the G4S5EA from Sailor Sam's. Did not think to see if the flat bulbs would fit in those lights when I was last there. Really a noticeable difference in our 90+ degree heat on the Gulf Coast.
Thanks.

Seadoc,

Does Formula use the same light fixtures in the 31PC as the 37PC? I was wondering because I want to change out my bulbs as well with the LED's.

TIA.

Bigguns:

I have no idea...but suggest that you take one out of the lights and see if it looks like the G4 on the SailorSam's webpage. I would bet that they are the same , though.

Call Sailor Sams & ask for Kris. She'll help you & explain the different LED's available. My guess is that the lights are the same on the 34 & 37 but someone will jump in & let us know for certain.

No. I'm a little nervous about those, as I suspect that those might have to be a complete assembly, properly engineered. On the other hand, I might have a look at it. I almost never run in the dark, anyway. On the other hand, a low-current anchor light would be a good thing. There may be some all-around screw-in LED units that would work...

Here are my gunwhale compartments before and after the screw-in replacement LED's, and the engine compartment after adding four 4' strips:

For the members who have replaced the bulbs with the LEDs, how do the 2.4watt G4S LEDs compare to the bulbs the your took out for brightness ??

How do you remove the light covers in the cabin area ?

They aren't quite as bright . I think they are bright enough. At night time I felt that the halogens were to bright. To remove the cover just turn it counter clockwise a little and it will slip off.

Gabby Girl:

I did talk with Kris at Sailrorsam's ...got LEDs for the reading lights in the aft cabin. They are from Imtra and have longer pins on the back. Certainly not as bright as the previous bulbs for reading but I am delighted to get rid of the heat. In fact I replaced all the lights "down below". Now I don't have to be so selective about turning on lights! The only ones i did not replace are the small "eyeball" spots in the v-berth.
I thank you again for the info.

I just finished changing all g4 halogen interior lights superbrightleds.com sells them for 14.95

What bulb did you use from superbrightleds?

I thought when I looked the 2 connection pins on all the factory bulbs they were vertical (stacked one on top of the other) and on superbright LED's they are all horizontal (side by side)?

I used G4-WHP10-D warm white. I tried the cool white in the head but not crazy about it. All my lights are side entry.

We ordered from two different companies. One is Sailorsams (Part # ICM-LEDG4S) ( www.sailorsams.com ) & the other is Daniel R. Smith & Associates ( www.drsa.com ). DRSA is a supplier to Formula & has all of their schematics which is a huge help if there is any concern about the proper bulb / fixture's. We opted to swap the LED bulbs for the OEM from Formula. There are also different LED engines / fixtures that are made specifically for LED's & have a slightly brighter bulb/light. These are twice the cost of the LED light only. The lights from Sailorsams are approx 2.5 watts vs. 20+ for OEM, give off virtually no heat, will last forever & are very close to OEM in brightness. In fact, it's hard to tell the difference in the cabin of our 37 PC when we compared side-to-side. The LED's make an incredible difference in the head where temps run high.
gabby Our pins were up and down, not side by side.

Okay,
So if I want to replace my interior lights with LED all I have to do is purchase a drop in LED replacement? Am I reading this correctly? No changing the fixtures or anything.

Thanks

All that you have to do is change out the Halogen G4 Base bult with an LED one.

Most likely your Halogen bulbs are side-pin and can be found at the following web-site.

FYI, I ordered the "warm-white" for inside and the "cool-white" for the outside arch. In my opinion, the "cool-white" are to bright for down below.....
