Does anyone know what the forward lower light unit is for? The top unit comes on with the anchor setting and the aft lower unit with nav setting. Lower forward never comes on.

That's a poorly designed light and was installed later because of tracvision. A boat requires a all around white light for anchoring and also for underway. Splitting the light at the same position would have me asking why? Splitting it in two locations I would understand (one forward and one aft) to keep the light from shinning into the pilot house.

Ok thanks for both responses. Now I have to figure out how to open the lower forward unit to check the bulb

i actually think it's a bit of legalese...CG is quick to state that port/starboard lights can be separate, or combo, but doesn't do the same for masthead/stern lights. while the total coverage for masthead and stern is 360 degrees...i think the way it's worded makes manufacturers put in 2 separate lights.

that being said, totally agree with gwazoo that the forward should also be on with your Nav lights.

Yeah for sure on my 40 PC when I have the running lights on the forward and aft light are on when I turn the anchor light on only the top 360 is on

Still can't figure out how to remove the lense to get to the bulb - is there a trick?
I think they're just a screw on the bottom ... but I can't remember for sure I can go climb up tomorrow morning as i put the boat away
