Looking for feedback on "After-Market" Blue Underwater Lights

Unforgettable

New member
I installed 3 / 5-LED Light "Surface Mounted" Blue Underwater Lights back in 2008 @ $330 per light. They worked great until the end of last year. When I pulled the boat and finished power-washing it for Winter layup, to of the 3- Lights had LED's that were not lit.

Obviously they are out of any initial Warranty and as such, I want to install 3-new LED "Surface Mounted" Blue lights prior to spring launch. That said, I'm not a fan of drilling additional holes in the Hull under the Water Line so which is why I specified "Surface Mounted" ;-)

Any thoughts / suggestions as to which ones I should look at?

Many thanks for your anticipated input!

My marine repair shop recommended Chris with coastalnightlights.com. I bought 4 and they are bright. Chris was very helpful, quick and reasonable. They are all plastic so no corrosion and surface mount. Still have to have a hole for the wires though. I suppose you could run wires up and out above the water line.

a good friend of mine used the Lumitec Seablaze and he has been very satisfied so far. they've been installed for about a year with no issues.

Unforgettable,

I installed last year, the ocean led extremes. They are surface mounts and are very bright. We boat on the deleware wich is heavy with sediment. They light up the back very well. I bought the ones that change color randomly. Or you can keep them on the color you choose by toggling the switch. We have the same boat, I inatalled the 8 led size on each light. More than enough light.

Many thanks!

I looking at the product on Ocean's website, I don't see an A8 Amphibian that is "surface" mounted.

I also don't see a multi-color light Model that is recommenced for under/above the water i.e., "above" the water when the boat in on plane ;-)

That said, would you be kind enough to send me the specific model # of the Ocean LED lights that you installed?

TYVM!

Unforgettable,

If you google ocean led amphibian A8 pro extreme it will take you right to them. Look for the one that says colors. Real nice lights

Installed two Lumitec 101056 Seablaze3 LED Underwater Lights (blue) on my 330SS three years ago. Awesome lights, very bright! Would highly recommend.

I have some of these I need to have installed. This company is the leader in the LED aftermarket industry and I've watched them grow since day 1. http://marine.rigidindustries.com/led-lighting/89122

Their components are high quality and these are 1440 lumens each. They test these extensively, been through their testing facility.

The white ones are 9000 lumens: http://marine.rigidindustries.com/led-lighting/89111

The round one has 9 LEDs and is less than what is listed above, yet 4500 lumens: http://marine.rigidindustries.com/led-lighting/89221

I am adding 2 underwater lights to my 37 PC before it goes back in the water this spring. I spoke to the factory before chosing the brand. They use Sea Vision surface mount LED SV 44 from the factory.

The blue produce 1292 lumens and have 6 what appear to be cree (sp) LEDs 30,000 hour life and only draw 1.95 amps at 12vdc.

I have never had any problems using a factory prescribed part, I think Formula does a pretty good job picking winners.

Attached photos will not show. Linked photos will. I will see if I can change the setting for attached photos

Anybody have a picture of where they put these on a 330SS? I'm planning on installing 3 of the Seablaze X.
Thanks,
Aaron

Hey guys.
Don't want to put a damper on the discussion, but Steve just got me my temporary password today, so haven't been
on for a bit. Maybe it's just my experience, or maybe the lights are getting hit with a power washer at the marina, but
when I got the boat three seasons ago, it had the original version of the Seablaze lights on it. One was not working, and
another was flickering so I decided to replace them with new the Seablaze 3, the white and blue combo ones.
First, the color combo is a waste of time in my area, Long Island, NY, because when you turn both on they become a dull gray
color in the water. Individually, either color is not very strong and bright because you're only using half the light.
The color of the lights was always a bit off from each other, called Lumitec and they swear this should not be the case, however
they made no effort or offer to replace them. Now, again one is flickering, and another half the light is not working correctly.
So here I am again replacing the lights again. This time i purchased the LumishoreSMX21, it is roughly the same price as the Seablaze, but
seems to be better made, more along the line of Ocean LED, with a plastic overcoat on the entire light to prevent any issues in salt water as
well as deter barnacle growth. Will post a link at the end. When I look close at the Seablaze the design seems as it would be easy for the seal around the
glass to fail. The other issue was I purchased the Seablaze on Ebay, typically looking for a cheaper price, from an RV place in Washington, so I got
the bit about purchasing only from authorized dealers.
So now I purchased the Lumishore from the guys at the GPS store dot com, reputable and good to do business with. I purchased all my new
electronics and SAT TV, form the also.
So at least if I have and issue, I have them to help me.
Sorry to put a damper on things as most of the reviews here seem positive, but just wanted to add my $.02...
Could be just the ones I got, or an issue with washing etc. but I am not to impressed with the lights.
Check out both, let me know what you guys think...
These are the ones I got..

Forgot a quick note, was looking at different ones like the Ocean Amphibians, but didn't
feel like making even more holes and patching existing ones in the transom, and these are
the same dimensions as the ones on the boat.
Also, told wife already, if these fail, that will be the end of my underwater
light show, there's enough crap already hanging in the water off the back of the boat.

I got 2 of the Seablaze X installed yesterday, I'm having a problem with the placement on the center one... It looks like the center stringer is in the way, and I don't think I have room. Artventurer what boat do you have any how many light? Any body have a center light on a 330SS? Pictures would be great.
Thanks,
Aaron

Can you just mount it higher than the others? That's what I would have to do on my 34 pc

I have a 31 pc with four lights.....well 2 1/2 if you don't count the ones that don't work.....
I'm thinking three lights would cause an issue with the center stringer...also the outboard ones
you have to be careful with placement, otherwise you will wind up behind the shelves where the
batteries and hot water heater are..

I got them all installed, I just moved the center one up above the stringer, it still sits about 6" or so below the water line. I got to fire them up this past weekend in the water and they look pretty cool. Of coarse I didn't snap a picture but I think my buddy may have. If I can get one I'll post it up.

Two years ago I had the Lumitec Seablaze X series installed. They are wonderful The x replaced the Seblaze 3 two yrs back and I must say they compare to the ocean led for a fraction of the price. I still scratch my head because they are only 340 a light. Cant wait to drop in the water next week.
