Loosing RPM’s

Hello All. Went out for a ride after the really hot weekend we had here in the northeast and after getting on plane my port engine started to drop RPMs. Lasted 10 seconds and went back to normal. He’d the fuel filters and water separators changed. Went away this Friday for a 2 day trip and the boat ran like a champ! Today just out of the marina came up on plane and it happened again. 10 second loss of RPMs and back to normal. Whole ride home ran great. Going back tomorrow to check the water separators. Any thoughts?

Strange problem. As you work out this problem it is always good to remember that when one engine losses RPM's it can be because the other engine is having a problem. As an example if the other engine is slipping the other engine will lose RPM's as it is doing more of the work. Don't remember the thread but someone had a similar issue and if I remember correctly it turned out to be the other engine. I had a similar issue on a carb engine and it turned out the other engine had the issue.

Yes. Definitely feel it and hear engine surge. Loose speed too! I am going to the boat later to see if I can recreate it at the dock and maybe get a code from the diagnostics on the EDC. To be continued !
